Fairly Involved, Multi-step, but Quick Method to Effectively Removing Surface Scratches and Scrapes
We had our son apply this to where he scraped our minivan door on the side of our house (70% of the sliding door and a few other scraped spots). Although the scrapes seemed quite deep (check the DEPTH of the scratches before purchasing!), this multi-step system -- applied according to directions (not easy but fairly quick...less than an hour) -- took care of almost all the scrapes (made the buffed spots the shiniest on the car too!) Highly recommended.

“Works good.” Ron Swanson, probably.
“Erase minor poor choices with this easy three-step process the doctors don’t want you to know about!” 3M helping remove the remnants of poor teenage choices. Now that I’m 30 married to a great woman, I used this on our 4Runner as well. Took all superficial scratches out. Works good for light dog claw marks. I used this stuff to buff after using touch up paint in deeper scratches. Definitely 10/10. Used up the whole kit and bought the big bottles. Wouldn’t recommend for tattoo removal. It doesn’t erase those poor choices!

Works as advertised if you have realistic expectations
This kit is outstanding. Used on a dark grey metallic car, world rally blue car, and a dark green car (all clear coated) with outstanding results. However, you have to have realistic expectation management and understand a few things before using it: 1) This kit is for light scratches only--as in very minor, just into the clear coat type of scratches. If you think it will do more, you will be disappointed. I used it on a deeper scratch (but not one that exposed the primer), and while the visibly white part of the scratch is gone, if you look closely, you can see the “indent” of where the scratch was. However, that indent is at least "color matched" LoL! 2) This kit uses a tiered system of abrasives to essentially “blend” away light scratches. That said, you must have a very, very, very light hand. Anything more and you WILL create dull spots. Did I mention using a light hand? When using the sandpaper, use only enough pressure so as to not drop the paper when using it. When using the pads/drill, put enough pressure on it to only to maintain surface contact…do not push the drill/pad into the car when working on it. 3) You must have a light hand. 4) You must take your time. Like others that are impressed with this kit, I wish it came with more of the included products: more sandpaper, more scratch remover, and more compound. Hence only 4 instead of 5 stars. Otherwise, great and effective kit!

Worked great for scuffs from Parking Garage columns
My car brushed against one of the concrete columns in my parking garage in the first week parking there. The scratch did not penetrate the base coat, but did manage to scuff up the paint pretty bad. I was quick to try the common scratch removal products from Turtle Wax and Nu Finish at the local hardware store, but nothing worked. As a home remedy, someone even advised me to try whitening toothpaste as well, and although initially the results looked promising, the scuffs were still visible. Finally, after six months had gone by some one who came to visit took note of the scratches and that prompted my to renew my quest for fixing the scuffs. Searched on Amazon for the best reviewed product out there, and saw this among the top contenders. I have had good success with 3M products in the past, and this seemed promising. Now for the actual process and results-- it's rather simple. First, you clean and dry the affected area. Then, use a spray bottle to wet the area and the abrading sponge (small square of sandpaper) that the kit includes. Use the sponge to sand away the scuffs, spray and wipe repeatedly until the scuffs/scratches go away and become dull. Now you have to use a bit of the gloss restoring compound, and use the cylindrical sponge to apply it to the dull areas from the previous step. It was at this stage that the affected area already began to look like new. I didn't really see the need for the third "scratch remover" compound, but applied it as well to be thorough. The results were excellent, and the scuffs are completely gone and paint condition is as good as new. The only complaints I would have are the packaging of the product. The whole thing is packed in a clear plastic box that falls apart when you open it. Also, the compounds are in sachets that once opened are not resealable, which is a pity since I only needed to use about 20% of the compound provided. The packaging combined with the sachets greatly diminish the ability to reuse this kit. All in all a good solution to what may have cost me $100+ at a paint shop or body shop.

Good product in terrible packaging.
This product works well. I should have given a five star review but I cannot. There are two shortcomings. The first one is with the packaging. Both the scratch remover and rubbing pastes come in flexible packaging. Once you cut it open, you do not know if the packages will keep the compounds in their current viscosity. My guess is they are designed for one time use and most likely when I need them again they will dry up. I used paper clips to seal them. We will see if it will work when I need them the next time. 3M could have easily put these pastes in small tubes with screw on caps. I believe this was intentionally designed this way to force the consumer to buy a new kit when they have another scratch problem. The second issue is with the 4000 grit sandpaper. If you use it according to the instructions, that is wet sanding the scratch, the sand paper will disappear in your hand after repairing the first scratch. Luckily I had also purchased Turtle Wax T-234KT Premium Grade Scratch Repair Kit and they have better sandpapers with 3 different grit sizes. 3M could easily improve this product by adding more sandpaper with different grit sizes and by offering the pastes in tubes rather than flexible packages. This is a bad marketing trick.

I'd accidentally scratched my 3 month old CX5 by trying to remove some glue-like bird droppings with a twig - bad idea. The scratches were very obvious and really annoyed me every time I got in the car. I called three 'professional' scratch removers in my area, and when I sent this photo they all said I'd need to get the whole panel resprayed...! I saw this 3M product on a product review channel on YouTube - it came out the best one but also the most expensive. I thought I'd give it a try - even if it didn't fix it it'd probably be better, or I'd need to get the whole panel resprayed anyway. For $60AUD it's worth a go. I've just spent about 30 minutes using it - and the scratches are totally gone - it looks like new. If you look at very specific angles in the right light you can just about see some very slight indentations where a few scratches were - but they edges are very softened and there's no colour difference. Basically you can't see them anymore. I'm sure if I spent a bit more time on it then it would be flawless. I did an area about 30cm x 15cm overall and there's plenty of the two rubbing/polishing compounds left over. The instructions are very clear and easy to follow - all you need is a power drill which can run at low speed, some water and a few paper towels. Great products - saved be a lot of money.

Makes easy work of removing scratches with the proper compound! Just wish they made a 5” or 6” pad for a polisher.

Funciona en rayones superficiales. Lógicamente en los que se pierde mucha pintura, no funcionan.
