Works well
The tester was about -10% off when arrived. Got the calibrator solutions, adjustment was simple and quick. Now it reads right on target.Recommended.

Simplest tool for salt water pools and spas
I love the size it's easy to find in my tool kit, best thing is no more drops of this or test strips just a dip and read. Love it!

1st one didn't work.... second one same.
I think they are not calibrated as they say they should be out of the box. Temperature reading was good but just dashes for salt ppm. Others complain that they were 10% off until calibrated. That would have been better than what we got

Great tool for a salt water pool
I have a salt water pool and the salt level is supposed to be kept between 2600 and 3600ppm. The chlorine generator has a flow sensor that measures salinity and it's been at 3000ppm forever. However, when I took a water sample to my closest pool store for testing, they read it at 2300ppm but the guy at the counter said that their measurement usually not accurate; he didn't know why, and it's suspicious because the salt concentration shouldn't change in water that's in a bottle for an hour or so. I then bought a Chlorox salt water testing kit with test stripsand I could not get them to read over 900ppm -- even called Chlorox and asked if I was doing it right (I was).I figured this salinity meter might settle the question once and for all. It was easy to use and has the batteries pre-installed -- the instructions are actually more daunting than actually using the thing. I dipped it in the pool, turned it on (that's what the instructions say) and it started at 3,000ppm and then quickly settled in at 2490ppm. Alrighty then! Turns out turning it on and dipping it in the pool have the same results. I spot-checked different locations around my pool and it always settled in at the same number, so at least that's consistent. It does start out higher and then drops to the final result. I'm not sure what that's all about. The number that it starts at (3000ppm) is the same as what my flow sensor reports. So I'm still a bit confused but I tend to believe this sensor. I need to clean my salt cell and flow sensor (been putting that off for nearly a year as it's a pain) and then I'll see if they're more in agreement. However, I did go ahead and add some salt to the pool to make sure it really wasn't below 2600ppm (not good for the cell). One bag of salt took the reading from around 2500 to 2650 and the second bag to 2800. So that's consistent. The flow sensor instead went from 3000 to 3200 and now 3350. So at least the increases are also consistent. I would like to know why this meter starts out at 3000 and then drops -- hopefully it's not a voltage drop from the 3 button batteries that are messing with the numbers. Stirring it around didn't have any effect. As an added bonus, this meter reports the water temperature and has a button to switch between metric and US units. Don't look at the metric measurement because it's a lot higher.Giving this 5 stars because it's easy to use, the display is easy to read, and I do believe the readings are accurate. I'll report back if it learn that it's not accurate, but as I said, I believe this over the other measurement methods.

Handy to have with a saltwater pool
I wish I had this tool years ago. This is so much easier than taking your water to the pool place for testing. Display is easy to read. And quick to work. They included extra batteries.
