Transformative & equanimity
If there was only one book to read, it would be this one. Its the key to freedom from my cage Ive been in, my cage of beliefs and habits and trauma and the liberating freedom this offers , is a wisdom to be weaved into the fabric of being, a gift of feeling tone, being with what is, and the ability to be with self and thank you to the authors-hands on heart.....thank you.

Great
This is another great book from Williams and Penman. If you are looking to work more skilfully with your thoughts and feelings, and develop a long term mindfulness practice, buy this book. The way they combine a modern understanding of neuroscience and psychology with the ancient wisdom of mindfulness is groundbreaking. No new age spirituality or superficial subscription apps here. Some of the meditation instructions could be clearer e.g. I found it confusing that the audio instructions were sometimes different to the written ones. Also, one week, you’re asked to walk for 20-30 minutes most days. I found it disappointing that the book didn’t acknowledge not everyone is physically able to do so.

Update from previous review..
Update..week 5 and as predicted I felt even more control through week 4 and feel even more hopeful in week 5. I notice myself naturally just taking a pause and watching my internal distribances without taking action. It's became my default response to unpleasantness where as before I'd over eat or act in a non productive manner.Noticing more pleasure in stillness than before. Previous meditation practice have felt like a way to get a little control over the mind where as this I've noticed actually produces more pleasure in stillness it's self and even in the inquisitiveness of unpleasant thoughts has become pleasant. As I stated previously, this can be up and down depending on past trauma and how bad it was but I've noticed overall I am a lot more resourcful and I've noticed alot more pleasure in small things.Experimented with this and Gabor mate compassionate inquiry work whilst on holiday and have noticed radical changes. Worth while looking into at least myth of normal and then any of his other work. Surprising realisations of the coping mechanisms we install within ourselves through culture and how they can become harmful. Robert salposky behave backs this up well. Dopaminergic urges to be accepted by family/culture can cause detrimental stress and actions. Genetically some people are more predisposed to depression or addictions than others however experiences are deemed to be the biggest factor and we can reapraise meaning when we realise it's our conditioning that's causing chronic stress. Big reads but worth it.

Pleasant vedanā throughout
Vedanā is a vast topic, but, in my opinion, the authors do a stellar job of making it accessible and practical. I especially appreciated reading about the cognitive and neural mechanisms involved when we experience low mood and how all this can be navigated more skillfully through a better noticing and understanding of feeling tones. The honesty of the book (in terms of managing meditation expectations and careful safeguarding) is refreshing.

Brilliant!
I’m only on week 2 but I’m already feeling the benefits. I feel a lot calmer and I am seeing things in a far more positive light. The ideas in the book are so helpful and have made me realise where I’ve been going wrong. Onwards and upwards - I can’t wait to complete the rest of the 8 week programme.

Has the feeling of a book written just to fulfill a contractual obligation.
Unlike their previous book this is very thin as regards usefulness. It goes on and on about Vedana leaving your brain numb. Actually, I listened to a talk by Vidyamala about Vedana which lasted about half an hour and it conveyed far more than this rambling effort. No wonder the top reviewers were only Ruby Wax and Kenneth Branagh. That sounds desperate to me.

A useful antidote in a crazy world
The authors warn that it could take a few weeks before you’re likely to notice the benefits. They were wrong. I noticed within a few days. Mark Williams’ voice is instantly calming. I loved Danny Penman’s and Mark Williams’ first book but this new one takes meditation to a whole new level. The world seems scarily crazy and chaotic at the moment. This book is a useful antidote.

Truly life changing, a great resource
I found the previous book - 'Finding Peace in a Frantic World' - hand's down the best money I've ever spent on anything, and I stand by that comment.I was therefore really excited to see an update to this previous bestseller - particularly when I saw that there was so much new content - rather than just a new edit of the existing information previously presented. And the content does look really useful, and interesting. It has taken me a little time to get used to the awesome guided meditations not being embedded in the book - but rather available for free streaming/download from two external websites.Initially I found this a little frustrating in comparison to the previous book, where it was all packaged in together, but realised after downloading the many guided meditations separately - that likely the sheer size of the sound files would have been impractical to include embedded in the book, as they come to just over 1GB in total, I think, therefore the new format gives the user the opportunity to separate the sound files from the book to save space on a device, or to pick and choose which particular mediations are most useful at a given time.I do appreciate the significant effort the authors put in to make this considerable content available, which, to me, does seem quite reasonably priced considering the time and effort that has gone into this work.I was very pleased to hear the same soothing voice of the first book this time around too - as I have found some guided meditations to be not quite as pleasant, depending on the tone, speed etc of the narrator, but find these tracks very soothing to listen to.

Hilft
Hat meine Meditationspraxis noch mal auf eine andere Ebene gebracht. Wirkt wie Medizin , hilft beim Umgang mit schwierigen Gefühlen und auch dabei die Körperwahrnehmung zu verbessern . I am a fan.

My book came in a Prime bubble pack but, it looks like it was drug around on the ground.
I needed it for a new meditating class and have not used it yet.I am very disappointed in the manor at which I received the book.
