Phoenix Systems 8001-B Coolant Test Strip (Determine When to Replace Automotive Coolant - 100 Test Strips)

Worth the money. I'm a retired ASE automotive tech. 49 year career. I was always of the mindset to change all coolant in our cars and equipment every 3 years period. Now with the price of new coolant and the challenge of getting rid of your old fluid properly, I decided I wanted to try these test strips. They paid for themselves the first day. All 3 cars tested still had excellent condition antifreeze so no need to change. If it's still good, no harm done by not changing it out. I would definitely recommend this product. It could actually save you money!

I have been replacing fluids based on the calendar for years. Once I found these test strips, I now know for sure that the fluid is still good or needs replacement. This has saved me a lot of time and money as I can delay changing fluids until its really needed. Grear product.

Works. I tested 8 year old coolant that *looks* good but wasn't sure if it was really good. It was in the middle of the range so it has more years left if I wanted to keep using. However, I went ahead and drained/fill. Also tested a 6 year old coolant (2018 4runner) that looks brand new and it tested as if new. THis vehicle only had 30k miles, mostly highway so no thermal cycling. I will re-test every year and decide when to ultimately change it. This is a great way to test condition of coolant for ph level.

Works. Tested my coolant boil point was good but the acidity was not tested brand new coolant and acidity was alot more better then mine but boil point seemed lower then the coolant in my truck not sure. Will be doing a coolant drain and fill either way and re testing

Antifreeze manufacturers make some wild claims. Our brand will work for 150,000 miles! Our brand will work for the lifetime of your vehicle! DON'T TRUST THEM. Some of them are good, some of them are poor but nearly all of them are hype. Your antifreeze will last for the life of your car simply because when your motor blows up, that is technically the end of your cars lifetime. Your antifreeze will eventually become a stew of acid, rust particles or aluminum oxidation throughout and will begin to conduct electricity which will cause more rapid deterioration of the internals and can even cause electrical malfunctions. Simply using these test strips will tell you when it is time to replace (or flush and replace) your engines antifreeze. In the US military these strips are used every 180 days to determine the health of the coolant system. Very Cheap Insurance.

No more guessing at your coolant's condition! Testing freeze/boil temperature is only part of the equation with coolant: testing for acidity is also critical, and these strips do both. So, no more changing coolant every 2 years just because it's advised, now you can know when you actually need to! These have paid for themselves in spared coolant changes.

I used these test strips to check the coolant that was 5 years old in my tractor. It was very easy to use and told me that the coolant was still good. Probably since I don't use the tractor very much. I also checked brand new coolant from a jug that was premixed from the factory at 50/50 and these strips showed exactly that mix ratio. I was impressed.
