Entry alignment meter for terrestrial & satellite with video display
Although this is an entry level digital terrestrial & satellite signal meter with video display it does require an understanding of Digital Television television arial and satellite LNB configurations for transmission bands, voltages for masthead amplifiers and LNB's, LNB switching methods, horizontal or vertical alignment, selecting the correct digital television encoding standards and so on. As these all have to be correctly set for things to work. The first opperation of the unit is not intuitive so studding the user manual is important. The layout of the user manual is not the best which makes it a little hard to read. The compass on the unit does not work as it continuously points in one direction. I have a suspension that the inbuilt speeker on this unit has a magnet on it that the compass may well be pointing to.I use a separate map reading compass if I have no visual references available. There are also handy augmented reality apps available that allow an android or iOS phone to pinpoint where a particular braudcast satellite is and where to point the dish to in the sky.For terrestrial I use google earth to plot a measurement line from the local transmitter to where the antenna is to be placed to get the angle. The unit does come with some accessories although there are some adapters I would have liked to have seen in the box.As the two inputs being the one for the terrestrial antenna input and the othere for the satellite input are both F-Type female connections, so the following adapters may be needed to be able to use the unit. You will have to purchase these separately and or make them yourself.A metre long low loss TV/Satellite coaxial cable with female F-Type to female F-Type connectors,A male old style coaxial arial connector to female F-Type adapter,A male old style coaxial arial connector to male F-Type adapter,A female old style coaxial arial connector to female F-Type adapter,A female old style coaxial arial connector to male F-Type adapter,I can not comment on battery life as it only takes me a couple of minutes to do the final alignment of an arial or satellite dish, and the time it takes to do a rescan and storing of the channels is also within the battery life.Getting the initial signal lock can be a little tricky as the meter can be a little slow in responding. But that is to be expected for the price. It may just catch out those who are not familiar with arial and satellite dish alignment where patience and small adjustments can have big results.Overall this does achieve what I need from it.

Great semi pro signal meter, good as a backup
Had to buy a replacement quickly, very simular in use and layout to a labgear 501. Only has single rf search for signal DB, Mer, C/N does not have group search and or transmitter search.

instructions a waste of time
bought this to set up a satellite dish on my caravan. There is a list of satellites in the menu but the Asta 28.2 which is for freestat is not on the list. so would have to set up manually. The problem is the instructions that came with the unit (and the downloadable version) are a complete waste of time unless you are psychic and a professional dish installer. Contacted the seller for help, said the would but then said just do a refund through Amazon, not bothered at all. So al in all a complete wast of time and energy.
