Great Standard Hex Bar!
*** Update - I’ve been using this hex bar 2-3 times each week for 6 weeks now. Performs as I had hoped. Plate hangers show some wear and the plastic end caps can come off when plates are removed. But, all bolts remain tight and all frame welds are great. If you’re on concrete like me, recommend you use this on a floor mat to deaden metal to concrete noise and prevent wear. I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS BAR. *** I wanted a hex bar that wouldn’t break the bank, could accommodate my existing 1” plates, and that would be sturdy enough for heavy lifts. My 5 first impressions after assembly and use: 1. Super easy to assemble, even with 2 adjustable wrenches. Took less than 10 minutes to unpack and assemble! ( Pay attention to the bolt sizes. 4 are longer for the center and 4 are shorter for the edges. ) 2. Came well-packed and in perfect condition. 3. Handles 250 lbs. no problem. Expect the 300 lbs. limit is accurate. 4. Recommend you use this on a cushioned floor mat since it has an all-metal frame. 5. I would guess this bar works fine for most people. I am 6’3” tall and I get great flexion and extension with it.

Super Bargain
This bar really surprised the heck our of me for the price. It is very well constructed , made from quality, heavy gauge metal tube. Assembly was a snap and shipping was quick. I am an old man with younger kids, this bar is perfect for me and them. It sits high making it easy to use for me, even though I am not tall @ 5 ft 9. It only supports 300lbs, I suspect that is because that is about all you can fit on the bar, 3 -50LB plates on each side. If you are looking to go higher in weight, shit is not the bar for you. It is very hard to find one of these bars for 1 inch plates, so your options are limited. This is a fantastic deal.

Great home trap bar
Works quite well with standard weight plates to let you do deadlifts at home without having all the annoying difficulty of loading up a straight bar, and especially without having a bar that can roll away which is a particularly risky thing if you're in a small home gym. Minor complaints: The handles are kind of far apart, and the the base could be a little bit taller. It fits most of my standard plates well but I have a pair of 50 lbs that scrape the ground when they're on this trap bar, which makes them annoying to load up. I have had it for months and have not noticed any stability or sturdiness problems. I have put 340ish pounds on it at most and it seems to hold up fine. Update after 3 years of owning it and moving cross country, the plate holders are bending out of shape. Since I’ve been using it for deadlifts and not just shrugs I imagine it’s been getting more punishment than it’s designed for

or unnecessarily expensive usually
I have needed and wanted a "trap/shrug bar" for some time. However I use "standard" sized bars and finding such bars in that size is difficult, or unnecessarily expensive usually. Quite frankly when I saw the cost of this bar I was a little skeptical of it's quality. However I just received it a day or so ago and used it today for the first time. It is made VERY WELL! The inside dimensions are actually made larger than such bars costing much more, which is convenient for use by a larger man (I am 6' 1" and about 210 in weight). It is designed for use with up to 300 pounds of weight, which in addition to the bars weight of about 30 lbs gives a total of 330 pounds for your Deadlifts. Some of course like to go higher, in poundage used, but this maximum weight is perfect for my needs. The bar itself is impressive in appearance, and the materials used are extremely sturdy and anything but cheaply produced. It is well packaged for transport (no rips or tears in the shipping package when it arrived). And it seems made for the "long-term" use by the buyer. I highly recommend this bar to anyone that wants a trap/shrug bar, uses standard sized weights, and wants one that will last a lifetime!

Easy to load, fits body
I’m pleased with this product. The design allows you to load plates easily as it has good clearance height from the floor. Plates with the standard 1 inch diameter hole fit perfectly, plus there is adequate room to load up several plates of you need to lift heavy. I would recommend this to all who are seeking a safer deadlift than a traditional straight bar offers.

Sturdy and well built, good value, but not practical for small spaces.
I'm impressed with the quality for the price. It's useful for squats and standing shrugs and makes them feel safer. The only drawback is that the feet make it very bulky and difficult to stow away if you have limited space. I might end up cutting them off all together. I think for something this bulky, some minor design changes could be made to broaden its uses for a few more exercises like rows and seated shrugs. However, if you have a large floor space to just keep it out and are ok with it being good for only a few specific exercises, it it serves its purpose well. Another minor annoyance, though not major is that the through holes are quite big for the bolt sizes, which makes assembling it with good alignment a bit of a challenge. The two center bolts on either end are also slightly longer than the outboard bolts, which could be easily overlooked if you are putting it together in a hurry, so take note of this. Also, I would highly recommend getting clamp style collars for the 1" plate bars. The spring ones are sketchy on a standard 1 inch bar.

Wouldn't buy again
I would definitely buy a different trap bar. This one works ok just wish it had another handle towards the inside.
