... Is keeping our cat from clawing our new box spring
This is an excellent product, even better than I was expecting. The zipper encompasses three of the four edges so that the "encasement" is extremely easy to put on -- and take off, should you want to. The zipper is also "tight," so much so that it's pretty much invisible once it's closed (preventing virtually anything, even very tiny things, from getting to your box spring).I bought this for the new box spring/foundation we've had, as I write, for barely two weeks. We bought the box spring and this encasement, along with a new mattress, for our home bed where bedbugs and other such creatures are not a problem. Instead, I got it in hopes that one of our cats -- who daily was using several corners of our previous nine-year-old box spring as a scratching post -- would stay away from this new box spring due to the VERY tight weave of this encasement. It's working. Roo was, from day 1, far less interested in it, and after systematically redirecting her away from it (she certainly knows what "NO!" means) she is now, instead, using the actual scratching post that's in the bedroom, as our other cats do. Roo is likely not very interested because she can't actually tear the encasement fabric or stick her claws into it in the (to her) same satisfying way she could into the previous box spring. If her claws were very sharp (we keep them trimmed) they might leave pin-point punctures the fabric (she's a small cat, with small claws), but this encasement's fabric is just not tearable. By extension, this encasement must certainly also work to keep out bedbugs, et al, as it's intended.Considering the unusual fabric and zipper, how well this is made, and how much good bedding materials cost these days, the price, I think, is also pretty reasonable.

Perfect fit, Superb Quality, Excellent zipper system
If I could give a 10 rating I would. Made the purchase as one more thing I can do to fight the bed bugs. The material is almost silk like, very smooth, and is high-end quality. Zipper system never got stuck onto the material around the zipper, not once. Very impressed with how smooth the zipper closed/operated. Velcro covers the zipper at its final closed destination. I have a cal-king bed and the length(84"), width(36"), height(9"), of the box spring covers, was a perfect fit. I sleep better at night that I have the SafeRest Premium box spring encasement protecting me. My bedroom is secure from bedbugs so far. I assume the product was manufactured here in the Great USA, as there were no "Made in China" logos on product. Probably why the fit was perfect. The Bed Bug Battle, what has worked for me.All items were purchased on Amazon website. The SafeRest box spring covers,ClimbUp Insect Interceptor 6 1/4" x 6 1/4" x 5'box of 12, for under bedroom furniture feet, including bed, dresser, night stand etc,JT Eaton Kills BEDBUGS Powder around baseboard where carpet and baseboard meet. Also purchased the Euroflex Monster Steam-Jet-II 1200w floor steamer and use it on the carpets to fry them as the steamer gets to 200+ degrees. Vaccuum before and after the Monster. And of course keep everything up off the floor, and wash sheets regularly. Keep a set of clothes you wear for bed ONLY! Use other clothes for sitting in living room furniture where I also have bedbugs. So far all this is working. And take a shower every night before bed. The SafeRest Premium box spring encasement cover is a must, as bed bugs can hide easily out of sight. Good Luck if your fighting Bed Bugs and don't give up. Be consistent with vaccuuming also. It's a lot of work, time consuming, but when you see the results,no bites, its very satisfying.

Thick and Hefty
Imagine how horrified I was to move into an apartment after selling my house, only to have bedbugs turn up! The inspector couldn’t find any evidence of infestation other than the live one I found, so we still don’t know if it was the apartment, the movers, or the used moving boxes my Realtor kindly gave me. Nevertheless, part of the protocol for eliminating them is to use full encasements for the mattress and box springs if I don’t want to throw them out. There was no sign of bugs on them, so I went for the encasements.I have a king size bed with the usual split box springs, so I had to buy three encasements altogether. FYI, an eastern king split box spring is equal to two twin extra longs. Just saying. I posted a review for the mattress encasement, which was really more important on a comfort level, but a box encasement is important, too. These are tightly woven, lab tested, and if there are any residual critters, they are trapped inside until they die. MWAHAHAHA!!! Oops! That was evil. But that's how I feel about the bugs. I hope I'm the apex predator here.Oops! Back to business... the biggest issue I had against encasements was getting them installed by myself. I’m just a 50-something short chick. I would have appreciated some tips and tricks included with the package, but I was on my own. I struggled with the first one, but the second one was easier having learned from my mistakes. Certainly in the testing process they tested the best way to put the darn thing on your bed. Right? If not, they should have.Again, the value of this is in the dust, allergen, bug properties. The whole thing is tightly woven fabric to keep the heebie jeebies out. Given how long you will keep your bed, and how long this will extend its life, plus that it doesn’t rustle, crackle, crinkle, etc., it’s worth the price.
