Effect bird deterrent
This owl was purchased after a neighbor mentioned how he got rid of the birds that were crapping all over his deck. I bought this cheaper version and decided to give a chance. And it worked. I have been moving the plastic owl to every day or so for the past few weeks and it’s been more effective than I expected. There is no base on this plastic owl, so I screwed a piece of scrap wood to the bottom and use some spring clamps to hold it on the deck railing.

Realistic and large!
I bought this as a deterrent for rodents and birds around parts of our house and yard. It's much bigger than I thought it would be and realistic enough to make me jump the first time I saw it out of the corner of my eye in our foyer. He's still there so I can't rate on how the wildlife will react. LOL

Frendly, pretty, don't eat a lot, not much on conversation.
We purchased three owls with the idea that we spread them up and down our fence line to keep doves, squirrels, and hawks away from our free range chickens. Well, the doves are not impressed as they still congregated around the area we feed our chickens and not twenty feet from one of the owls. I'm pretty sure the chickens havent even noticed them. The owls are heavy duty plastic. I fill then with gravel to give them weight so they won't blow over in the wind. I had a staring contest with one and lost. Not happy about it. I like them and I think I'll keep them around for a while. The price was right and if they do happen to spook off a predator or two then all the better. But honestly im not holding my breath.

KILLER OWL!
Had a hawk that put chicken on its menu. Started preying on my chickens, two and three times a day, picking them off . I got tired of finding piles of feathers here and there! Yep, chicken WAS on the menu! Knowing it wouldn't give up an easy meal, I turned to the 'net to see what worked for others. #1, they don't like Owls! I figured what the heck, I'd give it a shot. I ordered two.One for the coop, and one for further out in their range. I truly thought it wouldn't work, but my only option was to pen them up. I put one on top of the coop and one at the far end of their range, in a tree. They've been up a week and NO HAWK IN SIGHT! Are you kidding me!!!?? THEY REALLY WORK!! PUT A STUPID PLASTIC OWL IN A TREE, AND THE HAWK HAULED BUTT FOR GREENER PASTURES!!!!

Woodpecker is not afraid of this one - not effective
Was laying in bed and listening to a woodpecker pound a hole in the external wood of our home this morning. We have moved it a couple times a day but the woodpecker didn't mind this scarecrow owl was watching. It is either a waste of money, or I have a very smart group of woodpeckers. The owls with the floating heads seem to be more effective, but too early in our science project to draw a conclusion...besides the conclusion that this owl does not work.

Nice product but....
Product was as described mostly. I think it could have had a little bit of weight in the base to keep it level when it hangs but not so much it keeps it from moving in the breeze. But I must have some seriously tough little birdies as then come sit on the fence right below the Owl. I purchased it to keep those little birdies from making a "mess" on my porch. I also hung some shiny owl eye with bells on the bottom along with the Owl and now my porch stays clean. I would still recommend this product though.

Really works!
For some reason, this has been a terrible year for doves and pigeons and they've been pooping all over our deck, some of which actually stained our Cool Deck and required spot painting to cover it. Some days it was so bad, it was almost hard to walk over to our pool. I read the reviews on this owl and thought it was worth a try. So far it has worked like a dream. We move it around so it's not in the same place too long so the birds catch on. I also removed the plug on the bottom and put a bunch of rocks inside so the wind wouldn't blow it over. I was really skeptical as to whether this would really work, but I'm a believer now. No bird poop on our deck at all since we put it out.

it works!
Our local owl has not appeared this spring so the birds have moved out of the trees in our back yard and are having a field day in his former roost, a tree directly over our driveway so our car is paying the price. Having to hose down the doors and chisel clumps off the handles every morning is definitely not fun. We bought the owl last week and set "him" up in a small shrub beneath the tree and the birds have already relocated into the back yard where they can do what birds do to their hearts content. We also noticed a couple of crows that have been hanging around picking off some of the smaller birds have disappeared too. We're very happy with the purchase and will move him around and keep him visible for the rest of the spring.
