Unfortunately the bargain price had a cost - product: couldn't be used. From the moment you opened the plastic container it smelled old and obviously it tasted that way too. It was promptly refunded.

Before purchasing these poppy seeds I read reviews and looked at the average stars given. It looks like I will no longer purchase certain food items from Amazon! The freshly opened package received today is absolutely HORRIBLE! It smells just like very old cooking oil. You cannot return this item. Which I did not know. I wasted my money. Now I will shop elsewhere for items like this. Do not take a chance. Zero stars should be a choice Amazon!

They tasted very stale. I'm not sure what the issue was. Pretty disappointed.

We were planning on making poppy-seed cakes, and hoping that we'd get lucky, after seeing a lot of bad reviews and some good ones of this product. We were not lucky. Our seeds smell old, but they're supposed to be good until Dec. 2019! We were sucked in by the price, which would be very good if the seeds were useable. I guess many more people will be suckered by the price, and the roulette-wheel of maybe getting a good batch. The picture is of the poppy seeds in a pan, where we've tried drying them in the sun - no help. We'll try freezing next. Not hopeful. Oh well...

I received this bottle 8 days ago and it has a "best by" date of 8/31/2020. But the seeds are very bitter and completely rancid. Also it's not returnable, so I'll be dumping these. In my 30 years of baking, I've never tasted poppy seeds this bad. As soon as you open the seal top, you can smell the rancidity. It's not fair that it can't be returned if it's "defective."

just opened today, 1.5 months after it was purchased. although the stamp on a container reads "best by 8/30/2020" poppy seeds are absolutely un-edible, stale and bitter. the whole container went straight to garbage. consumers beware!

I got the bottle earlier today. As soon as we opened the seal, I can smell it like over dated oil. The smell is so strong that we can feel one foot away. There is no expiration dates labeled. I don’t dare to eat them. This is garbage and not returnable. Never buy it!

My poppy seeds were rancid and I just opened them , the due date says 8-31-20 so I was surprised that they weren't edible.
