The Wi-Fi/Bluetooth unit has malfunctioned. Cannot use the wireless network function.
The media could not be loaded. Edit: 1/20/2025 -- Sony national care called back. There is nuance in their policy, but purchasing any "like new" or "used" product from a company will not be covered under warranty, no exceptions. Despite the fact I've spent over $20K on Sony bodies and lens, they're unwilling to budge on policy -- "it says in our terms only new products are warrantied." There you have it -- and buyer beware; normally it's fine to buy "like new", but on Sony cameras in particular, their BT modules are prone to failure and cost $1200+ to repair. Sony has lost my confidence, my business, any future business; and I'll be sure to share my honest experience with friends and family to whom I've suggested Sony camera products. // end1/18/2025: I bought this unit “like new” from Michigan Camera four months ago. Yesterday, I get the error “The Wi-Fi/Bluetooth unit has malfunctioned. Cannot use the wireless network function.”I am LIVID — and here’s why.I have a Sony Alpha 7RV at Precision Camera, Sony’s repair depot, to REPAIR THE SAME PROBLEM right this moment. I purchased this Alpha 1 as my second body so I could send the Alpha 7RV in for repair.I reached out to Michigan Camera and they say I’m past my 30-day return period and to contact Sony; no surprise there. Sony Support said: “We’re sorry, but our warranty covers NEW products.” I’ve left Michigan Camera a note asking them if they can help in anyway. Probably not.I spoke with Sony Support today 1/18/2025 and they have escalated my case to their national support center. I have two very expensive Sony professional cameras whose Bluetooth modules have failed. I paid $1200 for the A7RV Bluetooth repair (replace the mainboard). I can only assume, without Sony’s help, I will pay $1200 for the A1 Bluetooth repair. Both units had <200 shutter activations when I bought them.I like Sony’s image quality, I read up on reviews, I knew from the A7RV the warranty conditions, but I picked this up anyway figuring that BT issue was a once in a lifetime thing. Well. It wasn’t and I may very well be on the hook for $2400 of repairs to save $800 “like new”.I will update if Sony decides to stand by their products.

Amazing
The camera is amazing. I needed a camera for family portraits and underwater wildlife/landscape video. This camera is the perfect hybrid photo/video. I am really impressed with both departments. More expensive than the R5, but the peace of mind of knowing that is not going to overheat inside the underwater case, great custom white balance and super35 no binding 4k made me decide.

Great camera with not so good of a battery life
It's a really nice camera and it takes amazing photos, however, the battery life is not the best so make sure you invest in a second or even third battery. Good thing is you can still use your batteries from you other Alpha cameras.

This thing is a beast.
I volunteer once a week at our animal shelter for photos for Petfinder. The eye focus for animals is spot on. The second photo is of a cat who wouldn't come out of the kennel in a dark room. The photo was taken at 12800 ISO with very little grain; which was easy to fix in LR.
