Rather small, but it works perfectly
I ordered this device from Amazon to turn off the neon tube light in the kitchen using Amazon Alexa voice control. The first thing to say is that it does work. But there are a couple of caveats - firstly the connectors are tiny. It is possible to insert 3 amp mains flex wire, but not 13 amp flex wire. Secondly, if you switch the light off using the switch, then you cannot switch it on again by hand - you can only switch it on again using the app or Alexa. However, it is possible to set it in the app so the default setting is OFF. This means the light can be turned on and off by hand when the internet is not working. It is a very simple matter to register the device using the eWeLink app and link it to Alexa. You need a mobile phone or tablet with Bluetooth. You need to have your wifi password to hand, as you will need to enter this to register this device on your wifi network. Do not site the device somewhere you cannot see it as there is an indicator light and a reset button. The instructions are printed in a very tiny type that is difficult to read without a magnifying glass. The markings on the device itself are very small and faint. I used a red and blue marker pen to mark the live and neutral terminals. I think it would be easier to fit a three-pin extension socket to the light fitting and use a smart plug as that has a manual override button. However, that would require more space than this device and would be cumbersome. I attached this device to the end of the light fitting using blue tack. There are two holes in the case that would allow you to fit the device to the ceiling.

Compact and easy to hide
Easy to integrate into ceiling (or other) lighting. Easy to install and integrate with WiFi and Alexa. However, not very stable and will need to be reintegrated with WiFi modem looses power etc. Not a problem if physically accessible and not permanently hidden! Be warned keep it accessible. Otherwise, it works well.

Used to add WiFi switch to “big light”
Fitted to my bedroom light switch this has allowed me to control the light via both voice and app (ideal when lay in bed and wanting to be lazy and not get out of bed to turn off the light). Install was fairly straight forward although if you are not familiar or confident with electrics I’d advise having an electrician perform the install for you).Setup was easy and the app recognised the switch straight away, it’s been easy to use and very responsive to commands. Great item and well worth the money.

Good inline smart switch that requires the eWeLink app
Good inline smart switch with covered block connectors for connecting the live and neutral wires. The covers screw back on for safety. Setup is fairly straightforward but does require the download of another smart app (eWeLink) which pairs via bluetooth and allows connection via WiFi. The eWeLink app allows the switch to be turned on/off and automated with timers etc. It can also be connected to Alex allowing voice control over the switch too.
