Octopath Traveler II - Nintendo Switch

I am about 30 hours into this title and I believe comfortable enough to speak on it. I know I’m a bit late to get to this title as I’ve been playing my backlog and finishing Metroid Prime. However, this was a title I was waiting on because I knew it would be a bit of a time commitment to do it justice. The wait was worth it.There is a “lot of the same”, but the improvements there are really clean up some of the issues that I had with the first (which I did still love). I feel the characters connect more on this entry. The first game the stories felt disconnected from the others. I feel there is also more depth to combat and character building possibilities. Also, the visuals are cleaner. I never really took to the backgrounds looking “muddled” on the first game. I just eventually got used to it. On top of that the writing and the American voice acting is improved.I think if you liked Octopath Traveler, this purchase is a no brained you will love it. I’d also recommend to fans of other turn based titles like Dragon Quest. I’m just happy to see the old turn based RPG get some love in 2023. They don’t come out often, so savor the moments that they do.

This game is a must play for anyone who loves turn-based RPGs.Gameplay: It's so deliciously strategic. Finding the right party with a perfect balance of skills is very fun. It's all about exploiting enemy weaknesses. Every encounter will get your brain going to make it as optimal as possible.Story: While I loved the way all 8 stories ended up connecting in the first game a bit more than how it did in this one, it's still amazing. Each of the 8 characters is so infinitely loveable that you can't not root for them. You'll also fall in love with the side characters. And even every NPC has their own bit of story!Graphics: The HD pixel graphics originated in the last game hold up and are just as good.Music: Absolutely phenomenal. One of the best soundtracks of any game in the past decade.Play this game!

I can’t praise this game enough. I never played the original game before, so I started with this one. I usually love beautiful games, rather than boss fighting, so I was initially attracted to this game based on the reviews praising how beautiful it is.After playing it for almost two months, I just completed the story today, it was such a wonderful adventure for me. I watched the Ending Credits made with personalized cutscenes from those moments I had with the 8 travelers, how unique and thoughtful it is! It was a touching and warm-hearted ending, which made me almost cry. I don’t want to end the journey either, well said.I like the storylines of each character, I even start liking the boss fighting part which turns out to be quite tactical, especially the flight with Galdera was pretty challenging but made me better at utilizing each character’s talent and the job system.I am so glad I picked this game up, I hope the next sequel is coming soon! Thanks for those who made this game, especially during a tough time I am having!

Hi! I got this game a while ago and didn't play it until a few weeks ago. It’s worth the money. I spent about 85 hours on it and am still looking to get 100% completion. The game art is gorgeous, with a unique feeling of a 16-bit game with a deep perspective. All the characters are super fun, and the day vs night path action is an upgrade from the first Octopath game. The story is something I played before in other games, but how they entangle the characters' paths is fantastic.If you are a hardcore RPG gamer, this is a must.If you are a casual player, try this game; you will enjoy it.

This game is ADDICTING I loved every minute of it I played it for 72 hours straight without batting an eye I absolutely love this franchise and I wish more games and more franchises would play around with this style this is an instant classic

The game itself is a solid 5 stars. Amazing music, voice acting, story, writing etc.However the graphics limitations due to it being a Switch game brings it down to 4 stars, as it is severely limited vs the PC version.This game has a free '3 hour' demo in the EShop - I strongly recommend trying it out there first to see if you'll like it. This demo is also available on Steam, so if you also game on PC, its best to try it out both places to see which platform works best for you. The graphics fidelity & framerate on PC is a VERY noticeable improvement. However - for my personal usage, I was able to get over that as this game works very well in handheld mode and in cases where you can only play for a few minutes at a time.

I am a big fan of JRPGS and square has some legendary games in that bracket. Octopath 2 has joined them. I have not played the first one but after doing my research they are not connected and it is not necessary. I will at some point Im sure. Combat is turn based and the mechanics are a lot of fun. Good variety of characters. At the start of the game the character you choose will be your main and always in the party. You will though be able to play through everyone's story line if you choose to in a playthrough. 5/5 Great for old fans or new of RPGS. Enjoy this one and I love it on the switch, cant go wrong having an RPG on a handheld. Runs great
