The best model kit I have ever had the pleasure of building. Instructions are good, painting and decals take a lot of time. This is the only model kit I’ve built in almost 30 years that everything fit just right. You will need to reference photos to get it perfect. Work of art!

The Mercury capsule is extraordinary in detail! Could not he more pleased!

Standing more than two-feet tall and costing just $75, the model kit comes with the decals and parts that allow you to build any of the Mercury capsules. I’ve not assembled a model in 40 years, but this one is a quick and easy build. Admittedly, I left some of the more detailed parts off and did limited painting and decaling, but I’m very happy with the result. An already assembled and finished model of this size would cost you hundreds of dollars, but with this kit, you can have one for minimal effort and cost

Our company is building a full size model of this capsule for a magnet school. We are using this kit along with original blueprints and documentation as a study model for the replica. This is a very detailed kit that encompasses over 90% of the actual spacecraft. Those details that are missing can be easily fabricated by a model hobbyist. Excellent kit!

Very real looking easy to put together astronaut inside looks real

I was an avid model builder as a child, but am certainly not an expert. My primary recommendation to other non-experts is to go very slow in assembling this model and carefully determine how the parts should fit together, taking into account how to complete the step you are working on so that the parts will be in the right alignment for the following steps. It is easy to make mistakes, particularly if you just think in terms of one step at a time. Some of the assemblies, such as the antenna fairing and the plastic parts of the retro-rocket straps, require exact precision. There are some errors in the instructions and there are areas where more detailed instructions would have been helpful. Spending time on the Internet to view pictures of the real Mercury Spacecraft, as well as the efforts of other modelers, was helpful for painting purposes. I found the escape tower and the retro-rocket straps the most difficult parts to assemble with the accuracy required. The decals on the retro-rocket pack requires patience and precision. In applying the decals, I found Micro Set and Micro Sol to be helpful and improved decal appearance. I also clear-coated the retro-rocket decals with Micro Satin.It is a good looking, big model, but it has two weaknesses. First, it does not come with a stand and it really needs it. Resting this model on its retro-rocket pack is not satisfactory. Second, to be able to display the model in various mission configurations, the instructions advise not to glue the escape tower, antenna fairing, and capsule together. However, these modules do not lock into place. They can only stay together if the model is displayed vertically. NautilusModels.com sells stands for this model.

小学生の頃マーキュリーのカプセルを持ってた記憶がある。作った記憶がないから、完成品を貰ったのかもしれない。今回はてっきり同じ製品かと思ったけどなんかあっさりし過ぎている。昔のモデルがジェミニだったのかなあ？もっとメカニカルな再現を期待していた。誰かこのキットの謂れを教えてもらえると嬉しい。

This is one of the best quality models I have built. Details and decals are well researched. Instructions are not as clear as I would have liked, but I consulted images on the internet and ended up with no problems assembling the kit. The designers / manufacturer went the extra mile by supplying not only hard plastic parts but metal straps and and flexible hoses. The control panel invites the model builder to innovate by adding wires and lighting. The panel is transparent plastic. I painted the panel from the rear side, which created a nice effect, as did lighting the panel from behind from a kit I purchased from another manufacturer. Given the size and quality of the model, the price is very reasonable.
