Great thread and great quality - a wonderful price as well
This is a very good thread that I have used to do some exceptionally fine work on antiques. The color is good, doesn't run, and the silk doesn't seem harmed by the dyeing. Silk can sometimes be made rough and weak by bad dyeing, but this thread is good. Also, this is "reeled silk" so it's the higher-quality type that is carefully unwound from the cocoon. If you've bought silk thread before it was probably Gutermann's spun silk, which is made from silk waste and spun like a cotton thread. Spun silk is weaker and not really fine. I highly recommend trying this thread because it really shows the best silk has to offer.I use this thread in hand sewing, so I have no experience with using it on a machine. I have used similar thread on a machine in the past and I will say that you need to have some more care. The machine must be clean and the needle needs to be higher-quality. A cheap machine also can introduce its own problems. In essence, this thread is good and if you have issues it's probably something else. When hand sewing, I wax my thread to help it slide through material better and to protect it. Reeled silk slides easily - it's the slickest of all the natural fibers - but I'm sewing into wool so the wax helps. I recommend picking up some beeswax. The cost and convenience of this product is second to none. I have no more local stores that carry anything nice, so Amazon is keeping my craft alive and thriving with offerings like this. It's been a while since I bought this thread but I recall it having next-day delivery. Not only can I keep the crafts alive, I can do it without being inconvenienced by living in a sort of cultural dead-end with only big box stores and parking lots. The thread is great and convenient no matter where you are.

name brand, strong, thin
vs guterman it's a different thread altogether. Guterman is a bit fluffy and yarn like - great for a softer feel. Clover is definitely more sleek and strong, colors are also a bit glossy and the yard twists come undone easily.different animals - excellent for right job.

Love it❤️

Consistent, good range of colors
It is expensive but it is also a high quality, consistent, twisted 3 ply, natural fiber thread at 50 wt with a good range of colors. Stronger than cotton but not nearly as strong as polyester.

Worst hand sewing thread ever.
I tried to hem a pair of my grandson's dress pants. This twists worse than even cheapo thread from Wallyworld. This is horrible to work with. The only way I finished was to do small sections and untwist frequently. I won't buy anything from Clover ever again, 50 weight my hiney.
