4'' Tungsten Carbide Tipped Hole Saw Drill Bit for Hard Metal Steel

Worked great to cut 16 holes in 3/8-inch-thick mild steel plates. Used a mag drill like a drill press, slow speed, moderate pressure, with cutting fluid. Both the pilot bit and the carbide cutters did an excellent job of cutting through these steel plates. There were only 2 occurances when the cutting seemed to stop progressing. Those were cured by pulling out, cleaning shavings out of the hole/cut circle, and restarting with a fresh drop of cutting fluid. I am pleasentlly surprised that we got through all 16 holes with a single bit.

Good quality hole saw and it did the job well on metal. It feels strong, cuts smoothly, and seems like it will hold up for more than just one project. Very happy with the performance so far.

Worked out perfectly for drilling homes in my golf carts. Now issues, performed as expected.

Update: I actually was able to complete my immediate task with only 2 teeth left. That alone is impressive. The seller sent a replacement whole saw immediately after I messaged them about my issue. Haven’t had a chance to use the replacement, but they stood behind their product and I can respect that. I’ll leave my existing info below for context.I liked the packaging of the product despite it delivering a day late. No big deal. However, I only got two holes cut before 4 out of 6 of the cutting teeth got ripped off. Initially I was using my drill press, but the belt kept slipping before it really could grab material and cut so I moved to my cordless drill. I was able to apply more pressure and cut much more effectively while dunking then it into antifreeze every 5 seconds of cutting to make sure the temps never got too hot. I also used engine oil as cutting lube to try and make this hole saw last as long as possible. Despite that, 4 out of 6 teeth broke off before even completing my third hole.I know how to drill holes! I was an Aircraft Assembly Mechanic for a few years and Ido lots of fabrication work. Super bummed because now my project is put on hold dude to not being able to drill the holes I need. Going to see if the seller with help me out. If they do I’ll up the review.

They actually cut too good! Make sure you use the low speed!

As a licensed contractor, I know how to use hole saws properly, so the issues I experienced with this 1'' Tungsten Carbide Tipped Hole Saw were strictly due to its incredibly low quality—not user error. Out of the box, the tool looked decent, but its performance was absolute garbage.On the very first hole I attempted to drill into mild steel, the pilot bit shattered instantly. Fortunately, it came with a spare. I swapped in the second bit and tried again, only for that spare bit to shatter right away as well.Determined to finish my project, I pre-drilled a pilot hole using my own drill bit and inserted the remaining stub of the broken bit into it to guide the saw. At that point, the "carbide" teeth just started breaking right off.I expected a much longer lifespan and significantly better durability out of a carbide-tipped tool. The metal is far too brittle, and the best you could possibly use this for would be making a hole in plastic. Do not buy this for professional or metalworking use.

Costruzione robusta e inserti di taglio ben affilati. Ho eseguito decine di tagli di diametro 20mm su tubo quadro 25x25mm in acciaio al carbonio a basso tenore, per intenderci quello che comunemente si acquista a Tecnomat nel settore carpenteria metallica. Il numero di giri per trapano a colonna era impostato, al minimo consentito dal mio attrezzo, di circa 600rpm.

I needed to cut some AR400 plate steel. these cutters, while not the best quality, did the job. I was able to cut 4 holes at 2" diameter in 3/4" thick steel. Chip evacuation is rather poor, so i had to retract the cutter often to clear chips. And i used plenty of cutting oil to give the cutter a fighting chance. After these four holes, the teeth on the cutter are very worn, and i don't think it will cut one more hole.

sharp and cuts good, cut 10 holes in steel don't know how long it will last though, pricey name brand not as good as this thing.
