Super Mica Bypass Tool/Lock Slipping Plastic

I was locking myself out a lot at one point and this got me back in! Great little kit.

There work really well and I have them now stored in my garage for when I lock myself out the house once or twice a year (yes I have a spare key but sometimes we get things wrong !!) Anyway they work great ... so why did I take a star off? They are too big to have in my wallet. They are wider than an iPhone x and nearly as long. That's annoying as to have in my wallet would have been perfect (if not a little suspicious I guess) however other than that this is one of those tools you need to have somewhere to hand (obviously not inside the house) and they are cheap.

We were locked out of the home office because the latch mechanism broke. Tried credit cards and other items, but all were either too thick, not strong enough, or not flexible enough (had to bend 90 degrees because the door frame is in front of the gap). Ordered these as a last resort before calling a locksmith, and they worked perfectly. Very happy, highly recommend.

I had an outside pvc door which unlocked but the latch was jammed. Result was that the door wouldn’t open. Saw these mica sheets and decided to give them a go when I’d received the new lock. It was difficult as being an outside door it was sealed on both sides and had to go round a 90 degree bend on both sides. Bent the strip to help it get round the bend (about 1/2” in from one edge) and had a go from the inside. This didn’t work so left it in and did the same with a second sheet (both the thin sheets) from the outside. After a bit of moving the handle around whilst pressing on the outside the latch released and allowed me to open the door and change the lock. I wasn’t sure what had happened to the lock but it turned out the latch had worn and had twisted slightly jamming it from going in. To release the lock took about 15 mins and a lot of patience to get it to release and I think that was the key! Very happy with the result as otherwise it would have been a locksmith and possible a new door. Only a few pounds but it did the job in the end. The 2 sheets I used have suffered a bit of wrinkling but are fine to use again!

Bought this as a locksmith recently charged me £75 to use one of these for 5 seconds. These do seem much thinner than the one he used, and I haven't yet managed to have it work on any locks I've tested it with. Great value though if it works on your locks - keep one in the car or hidden outside near your home.

Good selection of different thickness cards for slipping locks . Had 2 door locks at work that were inaccessible from the other side but within a minute I had managed to get into both rooms using these cards even though the doors were pretty tight to the doorframes A essential set to keep in your toolbox whether you are a professional or diyer
