A good solution for a smaller body...
I believe Sony really dropped the ball with the ergonomics of the A6000, A6300 and A6500. Things have got better as the range develops, but I still own and use my A6000, so I needed to make some improvements. These are small cameras, but sometimes small is too small, so it is good to have a grip as an option.I originally purchased an âOwnuserâ battery grip, which was the only available when I bought the A6000. It was not very well made, the finish was smooth plastic and it relied on the IR receiver to fire the camera via the grip. I ended up cutting the power cable and filling the battery compartments with plasticine to add some weight. The grip then just made the camera better to handle, particularly in portrait format. This grip is much better, and the shape is much more conducive to better handling in landscape and portrait format. There is a good rubber coating that compliments the camera. I thought the cable connection was going to be annoying, but there has been some thought put into the sizes of plugs etc. So far it has been fine.I have not had any issues with resets or battery power connections. Some reviews have mentioned issues in this regard and problems with âresettingâ the camera. The installation instructions are quite specific about how to attach the grip and when to put the batteries in, so I wonder if the problems others have had is because they did not follow these? This is not an OEM solution, and the camera was never designed to have a grip, so one should expect compromises. I do not think they are too big with this grip. I use it with one and two batteries with no problems. It feels tight on the body with no creaks or discernible movement. All in all, I am happy :-)

Build quality is good, but this grip did not work at all and event had some unsettling side-effects on my camera.
It is a shame I have to write this, I was very much looking forward to using a battery grip with my Sony A6000.The product itself feels very well made, it does not feel cheap, the grip feels nice and it locks on well to the camera, feeling sturdy. The instructions are easy to follow and assembly is easy. However, this is where the positive ends. For me, this grip did not work at all when you end up trying to turn on your camera. Despite following all of the instructions including putting the batteries in last and finally turning the camera on... nothing, just a blank screen. I played around with it seeing if it was just a loose connection point, but nothing worked. To make matters worse, after then putting one of my two batteries (Sony's own original) directly into the camera again it has been reset to factory settings including the time and date settings. After a few more tries my camera ended up refusing to turn on at all giving me a very quick heart beat thinking it had just bricked it.Luckily this was not the case, after putting a third battery into my camera it started up, again though the settings had all be reset. To summarise, while this battery grip is rigid with a good feel to it, it does not work and has worrying side-effects on your camera. I fear that repeated attempts to get this grip to work may result in it completely ruining my camera and so I am sending it back for a refund and I would advise you all to stay clear of the BG-3FIR model of batter grips sold by several companies.

Good price and no problems.
After reading the many reviews I was a little hesitant, but for the price I'll give it a go. I don't now if I was just lucky but I had non of the issues many seem to have had. I read and followed the instructions, straight forward enough, fitted the grip, connected the cable, which for me does not get in the way, inserted two batteries and switched the camera on. The screen and asked to set date and time (the camera had not been used for a few months) all information was shown and settings where as before. I am using the grip on a A6000 and have used it over a few days now without any problems.I can say that charging the batteries in the grip, removed from the camera, does take a while approx 9 hrs from 20% to full charge. So will probably use my fast charger in future.Have given 5 stars, if any of the reported problems show up in the future I will update this review.

Basic battery grip for Sony small cameras
Unit is the same as many like it so you can research its basic Functions from many similar units on Amazon. It works and Connects OK to Camera when Tightened Up correctly. Battery Indicator on camera goes off after a few seconds but comes back after a shot is taken. Think that's the design. However It doesn't come with an IR transmitter . I haven't had it on long enough to see if it overheats like some similar units . Good Price for what it provide

Good item
The power grip itself works just fine, nice built and had a good grip for it's size. Although the remote shutter release it's a bit odd to use as it doesn't focus first and then shuts by pressing the button to the end as you do on the camera. Only focus and shuts instantly. Apart from that, it's a nice deal ofr the price
