Exactly what I wanted.
Exactly what I wanted. A subtle red light that is easy to sleep with, yet provides enough light to see where you are walking and faint silhouettes so you wont bump into things. It pretty much covers a small radius as it's a night light, so for those who want a bright light that lights up the whole room, don't get a red night light, get a white proximity light (or just a lamp).I have a white proximity light I bought here that lights up my stairs and landing when I need to go to the bathroom at night or go downstairs for something and don't want to fully wake up. This is not suitable for that. Also if you have children and want a children's night light, this might be too dark for them. This is really for seeing silhouettes and not tripping on things on the floor, not for illuminating the room.

Worth the money for a night lite
Very much a soft nightlife. Really good for kids rooms giving off just enough light to keep the room lit. Seem to appear slightly brighter in a corner or under a mirror. Also handy if you have guests staying to help with a strange room. If using in the hall or stairs to light the way, I would recommend the white as this is the brightest - not that it’s bright….it’s very much a nightlite! No good for anything other than a gentle night lite but worth the price if this is what you are using it for. Good choice of colours for different bedrooms. Kids love it as each bedroom now has a different colour glow🙂

Good - but be aware of the brightness.
It is okay. The light is very red (not sure if that makes any sense?), so the light is not suitable for much else bar lighting your path to the toilet etc. We personally wish it were a little brighter, but that is a personal preference and other peoples needs will differ. On the plus side, this light will not keep you awake. We have been using it in the bedroom for when our kid wakes up. It will not give enough light to see the child's face, so if you need that, you may want a brighter light or perhaps a different colour? The light sensor works well, if it is bright in the room, it will be off and then as it gets darker the bulb brightens until it is fully on. But remember, the red light is not bright at all, so if you are after brightness, you're best getting a different colour light or one that is brighter.

Smaller and dimmer than expected, feels flimsy
Works fine, but the photo seems to make it look bigger than it is. In reality it's about the size of an egg. We wanted something for the kids not to be scared of total darkness in the night but they still usually object when we turn off the main room light and this thing comes on. It's not bright (won't keep you awake!) but OK when you get used to the dark. Even then we leave it close to white surfaces to reflect a bit more into the room. The main concern is that it feels like it's made from cheap plastic and because the only thing you can hold is the light housing, I always feel that the insertion force for plugging it in could be enough to break it.

Perfect for baby's room
Having read about blue night lights interfering with sleep and willing to try anything to improve my toddler's sleep(!) I purchased this. Obviously I have no idea if it's had any impact on my toddler's sleep but it works well with just enough light to be able to find my way around his room at night, which is what I wanted. He was intrigued by it at first, but got used to it quickly. It comes on automatically when the room is dark meaning you do not have to ever switch it off and I have been using it now continuously for about 4 months with no problems.I hope this was helpful, please let me know if it was by voting with the buttons below.

Poor design, automatic operation doesn't
Seriously don't think the designer had their coffee when they came up with this. The light sensor to enable automatic operation is almost completely obscured: 1) it is mounted underneath so points at the floor and 2) it is further masked by the sweeping lower part of the front. So really the product fails because of the design favouring form (appearance) over function. In all honesty I would expect to see this in a pound (£) shop (do we still have those?) not listed at £4.99 on here.It does produce a decent red light, not too bright but it is directed upwards (because of the sweeping front of the design) so really no use for illuminating a floor at night. I wouldn't be happy to use this as a child's night light due to other reviews mentioning failures although I experienced no heating of it in use.All-in-all then I don't think this is fit for it's "Automatic ... Dusk 2 Dawn LED Sensitive" description and would not recommend it.

Helps kids sleep at night
These lights have helped my children sleep better at night. Before these they were quite restless and had difficulty falling asleep. Since these they've been sleeping much better. So far it's been a positive experience.

Good for landing, not for bedrooms..
Purchased as night light for baby changing room and bedroom for night feeds. Slightly smaller than expected and the light is no where nesr bright enough for what i purchased for. In complete darkness lights up around 30cm in front of it, if that. Good for small landing or hallway potentially..Does get brighter as the room gets darker and it came earlier than exoected which is nice.
