Sony BDP-S6700 Blu-Ray DVD Player with Bluetooth
Terrific Blu-Ray player. Compact and full of stuff, I was particularly interested in the Bluetooth capability...Sky glass has Bluetooth capability but add a DVD player in to the mix and there are horrendous sound lag problems if you are using earbuds. Sorted now with this Blu-Ray player...Easy to set up and use, just pair your buds and off you go. Great picture, great sound. Will probably buy another for 3D TV upstairs as this also has 3D capability - Marvelous! Just bear in mind that your earbuds need to have volume control otherwise it is a one way ticket to hearing impairment!

Simple to set up, impressive performance
A simple plug and play device at last. Far too many manufacturers these days think we're all gizmo geeks who enjoy familiarising ourselves with pages and pages of instructions. This is a sophisticated player that sets itself up simply and quickly. The performance is first rate, plays Blu-ray and normal dvds with increased clarity. I connected mine to a projector for additional benefit of picture quality you get from Blu-ray discs. The player can play CDs and ordinary DVDs too but I leave that work to other kit. This is highly recommended if you want high quality at a decent price. Very pleased with it.

Very good player
This is a fine Blu Ray, with a couple of faults. The picture and sound quality from DVDs and Blu Rays is very good which is the main point of the device.Pros1. Easy to setup (you will need to update the firmware). Also quite small but robust2. Acceptable responsive. The menus are not too slow but neither super speedy3. Supports both wifi and fixed networking4. USB and bluetooth5. Decent range of apps, though some missing6. Quiet in operation7. Amazon and Netflix supported8. Supports SACD, if this is important to you.Cons1. Screen mirroring is borderline acceptable. It does judder a bit which is less than pleasant. FireTV does not have this issue, for example.2. Has iPlayer but most other catchup is missing (4OD, ITV Player)3. Plex is supported through Opera apps only, which is a bit of a pain but at least it is there.4. The OS is just about OK. Some services do lag in menus (e.g. Amazon Video)It also supports Playstation Now and PS4 controllers. I have not tested this as the service seems a bit pricey and given that the games are streamed to you I can see issues with network reliability. Mine is good but it is not perfect. Most games seem to be PS3 one.You can use the device to play multi-room audio on certain Sony devices. I do get fed up with proprietary technology. If I buy a Sony, I' like it to work with technology from other companies.ConclusionIts a very good player and achieves a lot. The negative points are fairly small but niggling. In truth these are likely to be seldom used features. Recommended.UPDATE after about 18 monthsStill works and is still decent. System updates seem to have dried up, which is pretty much as you would expect. (And suddenly started again)The only niggles from prolonged use are:- Boot from off is a bit slow, though I suspect most people leave their devices on standby.- The device does not like being powered off from ON rather than standby (we have a central power switch for much of the TV gear). The network can get lost forcing a re-scan from the system menu.- I worry about longer term support for apps. Given Sony use a version Android you might expect better support for more apps.- To be honest, if you are looking for support for network streaming services, Chromecast or FireTV is a better bet. That said some recent software updates have improved the responsiveness of the device.I don't feel the need to change the number of stars but it may be worth looking at more recent devices and I am still happy with the purchase.

Compact and easy to work out worth every penny
Upon receiving we only seen pics so we were pleasantly surprised at the compact size in comparison to our old player. Very easy to use instructions were great. Great Value for money great quality and plays blu rays perfectly without any issues. Highly recommended

Brilliant Blu-Ray player
Fantastic Blu-Ray player. First player that I have purchased, so cannot easily compare to others. Great picture quality and amazingly small and compact. Easy to use with good remote, that unlike some: ejects, switches off. Well protected in packaging. Super gift. Excellent.

An excellent player
The item arrived quickly, a day after original estimate, was well packed. The Sony S6700 was easy to install. Just the power lead (12v from adaptor) and an HDMI lead to the TV. On switching on it installed itself and setting up the Wi-Fi connection was simple, just typing in the pass code, and it worked first time, but on turning off and on again it had lost the connection and had to be reconnected with the pass code. Works fine with Netflix and i-Player; there are a few more applications including Spotify (which I don't use).Easy to insert disk through front mechanised door. DVDs look excellent on our LG TV and Blu-Ray picture is very very good indeed. Sound quality too is very good. Plays CDs well with crisp clear sound (through TV and soundbar - Majority Bowfell Compact 2.1 Bluetooth Soundbar). I tried the Bluetooth with a set of Bluetooth headphones. It paired instantly and reception was fine with no lag.A nice standard remote (batteries included) which has a button directly to Netflix. Neat and easy to use home screen. The unit is smaller than you might expect but it is good that the days of very large units are gone; it fits under the TV and although fairly light it does not slip around. It is early days yet but so far I am very satisfied with my purchase. It is quite expensive at over £90 but this is compensated by its excellent picture and sound quality.

Great little player but some issues with sound
My first blu ray player, it has replaced my hi-fi system and also my ageing Freeview player. A little machine, plays cds, dvds. and blu-rays. Sound quality is great as I connect it via my separate bookshelf bluetooth speakers. Picture is great and sound also - although mysteriously, the sound goes off after 3-4 hours of play, I have yet to get to the bottom of this, I suspect there's some sort of timer inside it that switches the sound off - even though my bluetooth speakers are still connected I have to switch them off and on again for the sound to come back through the speakers then it will play again ok for another 3-4 hours, does anyone else have this problem? Other than that it's great.
