Improvement of an already very good hand tool
This is my second Bosch IXO cordless screwdriver, bought at a very reasonable price during deals of the day on a whim. My previous generation IXO has been going solidly for almost a decade without any issues at all. As with most electronic items with non-replaceable internal batteries, it has been holding a little bit less charge than when it was new as expected, but still lasts long enough and with enough power to be useful so I wasn't necessarily looking to replace it as such. This new version has all the functionality of the previous version with a few improvements as you would expect. First of all and for me personally as someone with fairly large hands, I found the revised placement of the direction switch a much better location to mount it. With the previous one the switch was just above the trigger and on a few occasions I found when I applied pressure in certain angles my fingers/thumb would inadvertently knock the switch out of position. On the new one it is a bigger switch and is located on the top of the tool behind the charging light making it much more user friendly and ergonomic. Another revised feature is the new micro USB charging port located at the base of the hand grip, it achieves a more positive connection than the old charging cradle which would sometimes slip off its small charging spring clips, also being micro USB it's much easier to find a cable to charge it since it's a very common charging method and easily replaced if damaged/lost. One feature that has gone slightly backwards in terms of functionality is the LED on the front of the tool. When used with the packaged rubber surround it is perfectly usable, even having 2 different settings if you rotate the cover 180° switching it between a spotlight to more of an area floodlight. It only becomes an issue if you attach any of the accessories to the front, I regularly use the offset adapter and the variable torque setting adapter, both of which completely obscure the light, not a deal breaker by any means but could of been avoided as it was on the older model being mounted slightly below the edge of the adapter. Apart from this small gripe and to be honest it's a very small one, I've found the tool to be extremely useful just as it's older sibling has been and I'm sure will continue to be while the new one is on charge, always handy to have backup!

Five years usage and still going strong
This is the best cordless screwdriver I’ve used and I’ve owned it for over five years. Although there are newer models of this particular product, this one remains the best value and has served me well. One problem I have had with previous cordless screwdrivers was the large size, heavy weight, poor battery life and awkward grips. This 5th generation Bosch IXO screwdriver is quite a small in comparison with some others, making it easy to use in tight spaces, easy to grip and fairly lightweight. The screwdriver features a small integrated LED light which is useful, particularly in circumstances where you need the lighting off when doing electrical work. The light is adjustable between a narrow beam and a wider pool of light which I think is quite an impressive feature. The screwdriver is described in the listing as charging in about three hours and I can confirm that this seems accurate. The battery retains its charge well when not in use, still having a decent level of charge after many weeks. And when in use, the battery life seems very good giving plenty of running time to construct flat pack furniture and so on. I’ve found the screwdriver to have decent torque, allowing long screws to be driven into wall plugs even where a manual screwdriver would struggle. It comes with a few different bits including a hex bit which is the right size for assembling IKEA furniture. Everything (screwdriver, bits and charger) comes packaged in and protected by a decent quality and robust plastic box. I have found this model very effective and good value. Although I understand that the newer 7th generation model has a longer battery life and more torque, this 5th generation version tends to be available at a better price. On that basis, I can recommend this version unless you can get a better deal on the 7th generation model in which case that might be worth checking out.

Compact, Easy to Use, But Lacks Power for Tough Jobs
The IXO is one of those tools you don’t realise you need until you have it. It’s compact, fits comfortably in the hand, and the included case keeps everything neat and portable. For light household jobs like furniture assembly or tightening loose screws, it works brilliantly. On the downside, it does struggle with tougher materials and larger screws — don’t expect it to replace a proper drill/driver. Battery life is fine for small tasks but drains fairly quickly if you push it harder. Overall, it’s a super convenient little gadget for around the house, but not powerful enough for serious DIY.

Love the handy screwdriver and it's case. Haven't tried it yet. Tried to switch the on and it functions pretty well. Hoping this would be a great screwdriver. Just need to buy an AU plug for the charger. Otherwise, satisfied.
