Question 1

Does this change the colour of the leather? I've just bought a pair of Fly London red leather boots and want to protect them before going out in them

I have been using G Wax on my dark brown boots 2 or 3 times a year for the past two years and can discern no change in colour. Two things about G wax, if it doesn't all sink in to the leather, it dries on top and leaves a shiny surface so that you can see the bits you haven't done. Also, when you put it on, you need to heat the wax with a hair dryer to get it soft and then use your fingers to rub it in. When it gets cold, you might see white deposits of wqx that hasn't sunk in but it buffs off easily. So,simple answer is that G Wax will not change the colour of your boots, but if you end of trailing through as much mud as I seem to, it probably wouldn't have mattered anyway.

Question 2

Will this wax be adequate protection for walking about in uk snow conditions? or is the granger's 'paste wax' more suited to that type of activity?

Hi my experience has been of using this wax in wet grass conditions while playing golf but needs to be applied each time to be effective. Using in snow would be taking it to a much higher level. I'm not so sure. Happy hiking! W. Morrow.

Question 3

Can I use this on smooth leather shoes? Not boots, but they are leather, pretty traditional looking shoes

Well, I would say that you can purely going on my experience of doing so!!  I've used it on two pairs of ordinary leather shoes with no problems at all.  When you apply the wax it does look a bit dull but is easily buffed up to achieve the more normal look of polished leather shoes. I hope this helps.

Hi is this all you need does it keep boots supple i? ll be using saddle soap first then need a water proofed and then a suppler ty so many items

seem's to keep my boots nice and supple..and water proof. Apply every month out of habit....which should extend the life of my boots! I'd just give it a go as it's pretty cheap stuff!
