Q: Will it cut down to a depth of 3/8”

We only use this for thinner corner cuts. I can’t be sure of 3/8”.

Q: What is the size on work area? Does it will fit in 1"wide mortise?

Using a caliper, the block portion of this chisel measures 7/8" X 7/8" square. This is the part that would sit in the mortise. My guess is that this tool should fit a 1" X 1" mortise.

Q: What is the size of the work area on that tool? I have to use in 1" mortise and want make sure it's not wide too much.

My husband says it is about 1/4 ". It isn't too much.
