Harry Potter Wizard Chess Set - The Noble Collection

Bought for my grandson who is a Harry Potter fan. He loved the chess set, the pieces are very intricate and of good quality.

This chess set was bought for my grandson who loves most things Harry Potter and since he’s recently learned to play chess we were able to kill two birds with one stone and he absolutely loves it! The pieces are based on the chess game that occurred in the film and not Harry and Hermione characters etc, but it’s now his favourite chess set .

As a replica of the chess game featured in the films, it’s very good. The plastic pieces look the part but are a) somewhat light weight and b) inevitably going to snap in places (bishop’s staff tops are bound to come off). The pieces justify a significant part of the overall cost. It’s a shame therefore that the board is so poor. The biggest issue is that the folds tear. The surface on ours is already tearing after just three open/closes. It’s not sturdy enough. The absence of grid reference letters/numbers will also be of concern for some. £30 of the £50 buys you fairly decent plastic pieces and a flimsy board that will undoubtedly fall apart inside its first year. The remaining £20 must presumably be for the honour of it sporting the Harry Potter logo. If you want to learn/play chess properly, I would avoid this. If it’s for your little Potterheads, then proceed under warning. Just have the cello tape and superglue at the ready because the reparo charm won’t rescue the situation this time.

Ein wirklich beeindruckendes Schachset! Die Figuren sind sehr detailliert und hochwertig verarbeitet, fühlen sich stabil an und sehen auf dem Brett großartig aus. Das Design im Wizard-Stil ist ein echter Hingucker und macht jede Partie zu etwas Besonderem. Auch die Verpackung eignet sich perfekt als Geschenk. Für Fans von außergewöhnlichen Schachsets oder Sammler absolut empfehlenswert!

I took the chance and bought it, between the bad reviews (from 2020) and the price I almost didn't get it! I needed a chees game where pieces where more easy to understand, my 3 year old keeps trying to learn how to play this game, we all know and is a favorite here, she is the first one who is trying to learn it so early so I decided to find pieces that would be easier for her to understand like the Queen with a skirt so she can understand she is the most powerful one 😜 I didn't want to pay over 30 neither I wanted real materials (stone, glass or marble) and this chees game was the only one in plastic that had the descriptions I was looking for except the price. Do I like paying 52 bucks with tax for it?? ABSOLUTELY NO! Is really not worth that much money. The only reason is so expensive is because of the movie. This literally reminds me my son toy soldiers, but they are strong enough and sturdy for my 3 year old to manage. They have something that looks like paint specs and at first I thought it was a sloppy cleaning but I notice they added something to the plastic in order to make them look like stone, it really doesn't work because they look like plastic from every where you look at them and they strongly smell like plastic. After a while either we got use to the smell or it went away. Is totally giftable, came in a nice box and nicely divided in bags (remember is plastic). Overall I only would recommend it for Harry Potter fans. But is too expensive for the quality of material, put a few bucks more and you can get real materials, save a few bucks and you can get wood pieces for a normal game without a Queen in skirt. I wanted to give it 4 stars because of how overpriced it is, but I really like how much my kid is understanding and progressing thanks to the pieces being more easy for her to understand.

Increible. Las figuras tienen un montón de detalle y se nota que las han hecho con un montón de cariño. ¡¡SON IGUALES QUE LAS DE LA PELÍCULA!!. Lo único que el tablero es el típico de cartón. Yo esperaba que fuera algo más tipo: tablero de ajedrez, pero bueno. Te viene con dos bolsas de terciopelo: una blanca (para las fichas blancas) y otra negra (para las fichas negras). Fácil de llevar si es que quedas con algún amigo o con tu pareja y quereis echaros una partida. Para exponer es una exquisitez.
