Minecraft (Playstation Vita)

There are two things I've never done, one is write an Amazon review (apologies if it wasn't helpful) and the other is play Minecraft. But when i tried the demo on the Playstation store a few days ago i was hooked and had to get the physical version (which arrived today), i was also blown away with how versatile it is, you really can create anything you're imagination can come up with. As I've never played the PC version all i can give is my option on the Vita version. For starters if you have a Playstation 3 then I'm happy to tell you that the physical PS Vita version comes with a code to download the PS3 version for free as well as you get a physical PS Vita game card so no need to download the game to a memory card (you will need a memory card to save the game etc). You have 2 options for when you first load the game up, one being the tutorial and the other being create mode. Tutorial mode eases you gently into the game and explains how to, well mine and craft which does become abit addictive over time as you just want to mine a few more blocks or just build that roof on your house. After the tutorial you're pretty much left to it as darkness looms and you need to make a shelter to protect yourself from the different types of horribles that walk around at night. Then there is create mode where you are left to your own devices to create anything you fancy with all the tools etc at your disposal. I must say having Minecraft on the PS Vita is the perfect platform for on the go 'crafting' when you get that inspiration, as you get a download code for the PS3 version in the box you can tranfer your save file from PS3 to Vita and vice a versa. The graphics and the size of the world is on par with the PS3 version so apart from playing it in your hands there is no real difference. I highly recommend this game as you get the best of all worlds with the physical game on PS Vita plus the free download code for PS3.

This arrived well in time for Christmas for my two oldest kids, my daughter 9, and my son 7, both are avid Minecraft fans and play it constantly on their computers. The first thing i will point out is that this is a physical copy, comes in a case and is not digital content which is exactly what I wanted. Secondly this is not a pocket edition of the game, this is the fully fledged product, it includes several skin and texture packs, has all the bells and whistles that you would expect to see in the full game, large biomes and all the mobs and animals including working redstone all the block types you would find in vanilla Minecraft. I initially thought that the controls would be clunky being on a handheld device, but it is really easy to just pickup and play, the controls are intuitive for a handheld device and it is easy to fight dig and build without any effort. Overall I was impressed with this game, it literally is having the full game, but portable. If you are used to playing on servers, then you would have a problem connecting to them, but since its release more and more vita servers have been popping up and I doubt it will take long for there to be a great choice of servers to play on for the vita. Its taken a while to come out on this device, but the reason for this is because the product seems polished and it was well worth the wait.

Absolutely LOVE Minecraft! I am so glad I could find a card copy, we in the U.S. only have digital download versions and we all know how valuable card space is! Minecraft is a great game for everyone. My 8 year old has been playing for 2 years now and it is all he and all his friends at school can talk about. I don't get much TV time so I love my portable systems getting to play a game I like on my vita is just great! Mostly this game is a complete time waster but you can build and advance and there are things to strive for like finding the nether (underworld) and beating a dragon! But if you want to keep it slow and casual you can play with no bad guys and just rack up the trophies. You can always use a mode with bad guys after you get the hang of the game or keep them off for kids. If you don't care about trophies you can use creative mode and just build all you want without working for the ingredients.

This was definitely worth the money spent on it. I bought this on the day of release for my Minecraft mad 7 year old. The gameplay and features are no different to the non handheld console versions. It's provided hours of entertainment in the house and outside on transport and hospital trips. Skin packs and texture packs are all available through the ps store same as the other versions. This version is much easier to use than pocket edition. I'm actually considering buying myself a ps vita so that I can play this.

A little more fiddly to play on the vita but it's still the good old Minecraft. I've grown bored of it a while back now but I'd still recommend it if you already play on any other platform. I think you can cross save too (on PS3/4 at least).

I had avoided the whole Minecraft sensationalism for years. I needed some games to keep my little lad occupied on a 10 hour flight and so I bought this for the Vita. My son hardly got a look in. I'm hooked. I don't know if that's an amazing or an awful thing! Great game, plays very well on Vita even if it is supposedly "smaller" than the PC version. Between this and Terraria, any spare time is effectively gone.

Before bedrock, every console version of Minecraft had its own version optimized for the platform that it released on. If you like legacy versions of Minecraft on physical cartridges I’d recommend it.
