Very powerful little all-in-one unit
Only set this up today but first impressions are very good. I just wanted a single unit to replace a hi-fi separate system of amplifier, CD/tape/radio player and an old Philips Streamium network streamer. I need to play radio (mainly FM) and CDs, stream music from a network attached server and also play TV sound through speakers. This unit does all of this and much more (DAB and internet radio, Bluetooth, USB, etc.). I'm not interested in Spotify and Airplay so can't say about anything about those but it was very easy to set up including finding my music server and it plays everything very smoothly. Sound quality amazingly seems to be as good as the hi-fi seperate system this unit replaces.Very well designed and thought through with features like independent volume controls for A and B speakers. Can't really think of anything negative to say so hope it just keeps going to deliver the same level of performance over time.

Good sound, lots of features, but…..
Nice, stylish compact unit with lots of features and nice sound but the software is flaky and it requires regular reboots to get it to connect to the wireless router. It claims to have internet radio, but in reality only if you pay them a monthly subscription. Fortunately it’s also Bluetooth enabled so you can stream internet radio to it from a tablet or phone (where internet radio comes for free). The CD player part also packed up.

Quality Marantz separate Alternative.... great value, easy to set up......Buy! You won't regret it!
I have a wide variety of mid price separates for different rooms plus various mid to higher cost wireless speakers..... Marantz, Yamaha, Naim, Audio Pro, Mass Fidelity, Jarre, B&O etc.I have recently been buying more Wireless Speakers for portable convenience..... however I've kept looking at this MCR611 as a small unit for a TV Room. When I saw the price at circa £300 I bought it via Amazon plus a pair of Q Acoustics 2050i floorstanding speakers again circa £300.Arrived just before Christmas, easy set up, 30 mins....... and up n' running playing CD's, hi-res music from my Pono Player plus iPhone, iPad, Spotify, radio etc...... and it all confirmed what I thought...... Wireless/portable speakers etc are great for convenience etc however the sound quality just notches way up when you switch back to separates. These days, circa £600 - £700 will buy you decent quality sound, if you shop around and wait for prices to drop...... last year or season's Best What-Hi-Fi pick doesn't become bad just because a New Contender comes along? ........my advice, for what it's worth...... keep seperates in mind and CD players...... because when you dim the lights, kick back, relax and play your favourite or new tunes....... you'll appreciate the difference in quality that a separates system brings with separate speakers. The mcr611 with decent'ish speakers reminds you what a pleasure listening to your music is....... we often forget that when we are seeking convenience everywhere.Buy! Enjoy! I bought from Richer Sounds via Amazon. Unit arrived quickly with no issues. I bought my Q Acoustic Speakers direct from Manufacturer....... these were damaged by careless courier handling, contacted manufacturers and they quickly/efficiently replaced! 10/10 for their service too!Enjoy the supposed inconvenience of an Alternative separate system to traditional multi unit separates system...... well worth it! :-))))

Great looks and sound - dodgy app
I bought my first Marantz amp about 35 years ago I reckon, so have long liked them for solid sound quality at a good price. This is a really good product that does what it is fundamentally there to do very well - play music with good sound in an attractive package. I use it in the kitchen as the day to day package for music and radio (though the sheer convenience of Alexa and the Echo is steadily displacing it, despite not sounding so good!) and it really does have very good sound per pound. However, the App is surely the worst I have ever used - Marantz, with all its product out there and spending power must be able to get something better than this. Both on Apple (iPad) and Android (Samsung Galaxy) its incredibly flawed, drops out, freezes, poor interface, etc. Yes, the unit can be controlled on both the fascia and on the remote control but that's nowhere near the user experience of a well thought out app. This must apply to all Marantz products as its the same couple of apps that I can see on the respective app stores so these comments probably apply across the board. Come on Marantz, do yourselves a favour, fix it and this will be a tremendous package.

So so
I've had this receiver for almost two years.Part of the time it was in my daughter's house. The sound is fine and no more than that, it cannot be considered high-end or anywhere close. It's a far cry from a Mission amplifier or an Arcam, even the cheapest models .Surprisingly for Marantz the CD player is the weakest part of the receiver, with a very thin and weak sound.USB is the best part and the sound is very good, even for mp3 and for flac it's even better. Bluetooth is very good too... when it works. It's a matter of luck, it remembers only the last device used, but suffers from Alzheimer...The Marantz M-CR611 is fine for a small apartments or for a room, it's nowhere near high end sound, for the price you can get better sound, but if you need all the features, then you can buy it.
