I'm sure that it is useful for something!
I bought this to try and connect my APC UPS data port to my PC. It was a bit of a long shot and unfortunately didn't do what I wanted but it was worth a try for the price. It seems well made and the connections are good. I have tested these and the connections are as follows, USB pins 1-3 connect to RJ45 pins 1-3; USB pin 4 connects to RJ45 pin 6. Reading the reviews it seems that some people have successfully used these for certain applications. It would be helpful if these successful uses were described.

udderly useless
Out of the box I felt ripped of by the buy. Got taken by the picture and thought I was getting 2 of these and got just on (LOL).For me it revealed useless! I got this to link my usb printer to my wireless router and getting a cheap and effective wireless network printer. It just didn't work, no way to find the printer!!! I just don't know what else to do - btw, if any of you who read this review can help I would be very gratefull! It's now on my "ridiculously dumb buys box" I have on my study, really, it's a big cardboard box under the desk filled with idiotic buys like this and a big sticker: "RDBB" LOLOL

USB TO LAN RJ45 Ethernet 10Mb/100Mb Network Adapter, NOT FOR CONNECTING PRINTERS
it is what it is, and that is an adaptor. For anyone who might think this will connect a usb printer to a router for network use, it wont, so don't buy it for this purpose, you need a printer server for that, but as a network adaptor it works just fine.

This seems to be very useful adapter though and may come in useful one day
It didn't do what I wanted it to do but that is no reflection on the supplier etc. I read everything before I purchased and decided to take a chance for the cost. I wanted to try and connect a Brother label printer with wifi capability to a wired network and see if it worked, but it didn't. This seems to be very useful adapter though and may come in useful one day.

Cheap BUT Inoperative
Only bought one of these and I've tried it in a number of applications and it has failed in every respect. I can only deduce that it is therefore a defective item. When it's this cheap, there seems little point in going through the rigmarole of returning the item, particularly having read the reviews stating problems with delivery. When I bought it there weren't any negative reviews. I suggest spending more and checking that the vendor/item is proven to have been proven for other customers.

Network adapter
The adapter was to create a net drive from an external hard drive and is well constructed. So far I have not succeeded in my quest but I feel that is more to do with my ineptitude with all things electronic!
