Extra Select Premium Koi Sticks Complete Fish Food, 5 kg

Ordered this as I just didn’t have time to go to the koi farm I usually go to for my koi food, yes it isn’t as good as the feed I normally use but my koi love it and hoover up everything I put in and this is less than half the price of the brand I’ve been using for the past couple of years, I’ll be sticking with this from now on.

Great item & affordable being in bulk, fish love them

Just received the 5kg bag of orange koi sticks. Not fed them to my mature koi, ghosts and orfes yet so will update review at a later date re this. Attached photo shows the actual composition, showing the main ingredients are in fact cereal and vegetable based, with fish & fish derivatives listed after this meaning they do not form the main composition. The description is a bit sneaky as it states fish derivatives first, implying they are the main ingredient. Big deal you might say, but I wanted an affordable food with fish/meat making up as much of the composition as possible, and can't justify over £50 for the posh, specialist koi food like Evolution Aqua Premier. The protein at 28% is pretty good, but would have preferred something around 32-36%. Ash content is good and low. Fat content at 3.5% should be fine for mature fishies, but probably not good enough for young, growing fish. As for it containing spirulina, as another person asked, I can see no mention of it on the packaging unless it is included in the minerals and vitamins section of the composition, but I am dubious as to whether it is present at all and the seller/manufacturer should be very careful stating it is present if it is not. I may buy a fish meal additive on this occasion to make sure they are getting their protein in the correct form and at the correct level. Hope this review helps. Hope the fish like it too.

Fish seem to like it ok

Large bag that lasts ages, fish seem to enjoy it and are doing well. Pieces are quite hard and some of the smaller juvenile fish find it harder to eat so crush some up for them, but much better value than other fish foods we’ve bought on amazon previously.

My koi prefer this food snd buying in bulk saves me having to run around. Good value

Not great food. Causes the fish to produce a lot of waste, will not be buying again

The is good food for a reasonable price and my koi always come up for this food.
