3-weeks in & I'm finally happy!
I am very happy with this "iOttie" phone holder! It took me literal months to find one that was similar to my previous one in my old car I just sold. The gel was so good that I could not remove it! It was also an iOttie but until I ran across this one, I could not remember the name of it. Apparently I bought it so long ago, that Amazon no longer shows it in my previously purchased list. This one-hand method of securing and removing the phone is preferred over all others! My phone is in a "flipalm" case that has the usual amount of ID and credit cards in it. It fits well into this holder, and whether opened or closed, the weight of the cards themselves in no way causes this phone holder to move. The arms stay secure where you set them. The nuts stay tight and do not loosen. The gel, even in this hot SC weather, does not loosen! (Please make sure you read the directions on how to install this properly so you will not run across any unnecessary issues). I have a curved dashboard and this still holds very well. I am very happy with the design of this "iOttie" product!

Best all around mount on the market
This mount is one of the best mounts available today. Before I got the iOttie, I had a magnetic mount that was great. However, I upgraded to the newest iPhone and had to get rid of it since I couldn't have both wireless charging and the magnetic mount (the metal plate used for the magnet interferes with the wireless charging). I tried a few options and was ultimately unhappy with all of them. However, a friend recommended the iOttie so I picked it up when it was on sale during the holidays. After a week of using it daily, I am happy to say that it works great. It has a unique, patented mechanism where you push the phone against the mount and the spring loaded sides clamp down on it. It's really easy to use and is satisfying to do for some reason. When you need your phone, you just push down on two bars on the sides and it'll release your phone. Super smooth, and once you get the hang of it, you can do it all one-handed. The mount itself is really customizable too. You can rotate it at two joints, and it telescopes forward several inches as well. I actually think it's overkill, as I don't think many people will adjust it that much, but it's nice that it's there I guess. It's a little big and bulky to see, but it's no issue. The suction cup that sticks it to the wall is the sticky gel kind. Some other companies use this. It actually works great as long as your car is in the right conditions... unfortunately, heat is not this mount's friend. During the winter months, it'll be fine, but summers can cause this thing to lose its grip and fall off the window. Keep an eye on it when it's hot outside. I only know this because I've had 2 of these style suction cups before and they always fell off my window during hotter, 80+ degree days. Hasn't happened to me with the iOttie mount yet since I've only had it for a week during the winter, but judging from other reviews, many other people have had this issue. The best part about this mount is that it's so big that it supports a lot of phones. I think the only way your phone won't fit is if you have a massive iPhone XS Max with a massive Otterbox on it or something. I tested it out with an iPhone XS, and iPhone SE, and an iPhone 7 Plus and they all fit great (they all had relatively small cases though). I like that anyone can just use it. If my phone dies on the way home and I need someone else to put there's up to find my way home on their GPS, they can just pop it on with no issues. Overall - great mount. A little pricey compared to others, but it goes on sale a lot (I got mine for $18 on Amazon). Even at full price ($24 as of writing) I would say it's worth it.

Reliable And Easy To Use
This phone mount has been one of the best purchases for my car. The suction is strong and stays in place even on longer drives and rougher roads. I love how simple it is to snap my phone in with one hand and it feels secure the entire time. The adjustable arm makes it easy to get the perfect angle whether Iโm using GPS or taking a hands free call. Iโve tried other mounts before that either lost their grip or wouldnโt hold my phone well but this one has been solid and dependable. Definitely a must have if you spend a lot of time in your car.

Great holder that does what you want it to do
Have been using this for a week and so far so good. It was easy to install, and appears to be stuck well to my dash. It's great seeing my phone well during the drive and it holds the phone pretty steady. There is a little bit of a bounce when driving and hitting any bumps, which not a big deal. The only reason I gave it 4 stars and honestly would have done 4.5 if I could, is the phone cradle arm length. Too short! I upgraded to an Iphone 17 Pro Max, which is the same size as a 16 Pro Max, so thought this would be fine. Bought a case and it isn't even a bulky case, and it just doesn't fit well at all. I've ordered an even slimmer case to see if that will work but wish the arms had some way to adjust for the cases.

This thing is great!
My three year clip-to-the-vent phone holder broke via plastic fatigue at the clips. I needed a replacement but didn't want another clip type that won't last. This one cost twice as much as the old one but holy cow - what a high-quality item! There are multiple height, angle, extension, and tilt adjustments and it seems built extremely well. It also holds and releases the phone with one touch. I was initially dismayed at how incredibly sticky the silicone suction cup is and thought it had an adhesive coating. It doesn't. I didn't want to stick it to the windshield to avoid blocking the view while driving and didn't want to permanently glue the little metal tray to my dashboard. I tried attaching via suction directly to the textured leatherette and amazingly it stayed put for the duration of our hot summer road trip. Then the moment of truth - would it leave residue upon removal? Nope. I could see where it had been but wiped with a damp paper towel and there's no evidence it was ever there. I am thrilled with this and highly recommend it.

Great mount!
I normally have hated these phone mounts, particularly universal ones. They fall off. They don't hold the phone well. They look bad. I've gone with Rokform mounts for years, and even an Android Auto headunit just so I can use Google Maps to navigate without a phone mount like this. But my wife's car simply has nowhere good for a Rokform magnet, and the headunit is integral so I can't replace it. I needed a way to mount her Note 8 phone (it's a huge phone, fairly heavy and awkward in its wallet case) in her 2015 CRV. I found a few places mentioned iOttie on discussion forums, to the point where I suspected it was spam, but I went ahead and bought one. It's not spam. This is a terrific mount. In the CRV, there's a space on the dashboard next to one of the screens that works perfectly for this mount, but in almost any car, you could use the dashboard instead of the window. This is because iOttie ships a plastic disc with the mount (like old nicer GPS units used to include). It affixes with high quality automotive tape, the kind that generally doesn't leave a mark on the dashboard. Dashboard mount is superior to window mount because any tiny budge will not tear the unit away from suction over time. It's working with gravity, not against it. You can mount it to a window, and the suction cup is sticky and strong, but dash is the way to go if you can. The phone's case extends beyond the phone, but the mount had no problem at all holding the phone steady. You press the two long buttons while putting the phone in place, and let go, and it just grips it in place. Removing the phone is just as elegant. I really am pleased with it. I drove across the state for the recent holidays and used this mount, and it was excellent. I normally drive my car with a nice Android Auto headunit, but this was really just as good (and I recommend that Android Auto app for driving... it's safer and easy to use without touching the phone). The mount articulates in many ways, even out towards the driver, and it feels very well made. It's worth the inexpensive price easily.

Good mount but only effective if you don't need the dashboard pad!
TL;DR: As others have mentioned, if you're sticking this to the dashboard and need to use the dashboard pad, it won't be as effective. The mount to the window is no problem. Their customer service is great albeit it takes a little while for them to give an answer and the answer they provided didn't really help (ended up being a lose/lose situation). Now here's the detailed experience where I came to this conclusion... In California, it's illegal to have the mount in the center of your windshield so I NEED to mount it to the dashboard. I did try mounting it to the bottom left of the windshield but having a usb cable running below or above my driving wheel when I charged bugged/worried me. So I decided to use the dashboard pad. On first application I followed all the rules. I made sure the pad and mount were above a certain temperature and waited at least 30 minutes before use. But the day after application and use I arrived to my car to see the mount had fallen off and took the pad with it. Fortunately, their customer service is nice and I messaged them asking if I could get a replacement for the pad. They went above and beyond and sent me just an entire replacement including another mount! However I'm wondering if it was just easier to send a whole new kit instead of just the pad. Also I had a separate question that I asked within the email that went unanswered so my guess is they just read replacement and sent a new one without actually reading. I had to send another email to get that question answered. The replacement worked a lot better but I played it safer. If you see the picture, the unmovable part of the arm that connects to the base goes backwards. If you have it going forwards (to extend the mount even further), it won't be able to handle the weight. so keeping it going back and having the telescoping arm out from there is the best option, but it does lose some distance this way. If this was all there was to it I would've rated it 4 stars since they did send an entire replacement without asking and I had better success. However... The other question I asked ties into what happens next. I wanted to know if removing the mount from the car was more effective for it's longevity than keeping it in there under hot weather. With summer coming up, the heat is usually what kills my mounts and they lose their effectiveness. They advised to keep it in there since moving it will lessen the stickiness and washing won't be as effective. So I listened to that advice, but arrived to the mount and pad not connected to my car again. It held up for a few weeks but this week is when the summer heat started to really kick in. I assume that the heat is what removed the pad. So I'm a little bummed that they told me to keep it in there. It's a lose/lost situation. Either I leave it in and the heat/weight of the mount removes the pad whenever it's too hot, or I remove it and over time the suction cup on the mount loses it's effectiveness and won't stay on the pad. I guess the latter IS the best option, but only if I am comfortable buying dashboard mounts over and over. In the end I feel maybe I could contact customer service again and ask for another pad since they were nice, but I wouldn't want to go through the hassle and also feel they probably wouldn't send a third replacement (even if it's just for the pad and not another mount). Maybe if they see this review they can tell me if it's worth contacting them or not LOL

A phone mount to remember
I first purchased the classic version of this phone mount back in December 2019. For the past 6+ years, this phone mount has stayed in place on my windshield whenever needed. It has remained durable despite attaching and detaching it to the window and leaving it attached to the windshield during extreme heat. The iOttie classic phone mount made such an impression that I have recommended it to others! I will be purchasing another one as a replacement now that the adhesive on the current one has worn down.
