A must buy for those just starting out
A fantastic book that is informative and packed full of information, but is written in a way that is clear and easy to understand. It gives a broad overview of beginning the journey into nursing and is well worth reading by any student nurse, and handy to keep to refer back to in the future.

brilliant, couldn't be without it
Without sounding pompous I wasn't sure how much the handbook could help me as a nursing secondee but I was curious from hearing others rave about the book. I am a single working dyslexic mum, a book has to be something amazing for me to read from start to finish without putting it down and this was exactly that. I can't fault the book, its written as if a good friend has written a note for help. My only disappointment is I didn't buy this as soon as I started working towards a nursing career as a wannabe student nurse. The books gives a sensible approach on how to approach the academic and placement requirements, I wouldn't be without this book and I expect it will be well used and loved by the time I finish the course. Look forward to buying the newly qualified handbook in the next few years.

Excellent book for all branches of nursing!
I'm going to uni in September to study MHN and was recommended this book by a past nursing student. I am only half way through it already and I just want to say how incredibly helpful I'm finding it. I currently work as a HCA and some sections are useful for this role too. I love the writing style as it's very friendly and not patronising as some handbooks are. There are plenty of good tips on all areas from choosing a university to surviving the course, all the way to graduating. I can tell it's going to be one of my favourite nursing books. Thank you so much.

This is a MUST BUY!!!
What more can I say, my only regret is that I didn’t get this book in my first year. Straight to the point! Covers almost all you need to know from year 1-3! Very simple language even for non-native speakers! Every page in this book is worth the time! User friendly, I feel my fellow student is relating to me when reading this book! I would HIGHLY recommend!!!

Good read for dipping in and out of
Good points: Easy to read and understand split into different sections including clinical placements, academic work and safe administration of medication Good background info prior to getting accepted on nursing course interesting section on learning disabilities nursing in appendices Not so good points: Would have liked to have a more in-depth section on mental health nursing But otherwise think this is going to be a good source of information for anyone thinking of completing a nursing course
