STEVEN WILSON'S STUNNING 'GET ALL YOU DESERVE' - NOW A 3 DISC COLLECTION "an immersive, ambitious project that demands repeated spins" MOJO "Prog rock wrung dry of nostalgia, perfect not for drowning but immersion." - ROLLING STONE Steven Wilson, four-time Grammy nominee, multi-instrumentalist, producer, and founder member of Porcupine Tree, released 'Get All You Deserve' in 2012, directed by long-time visual collaborator Lasse Hoile, the concert film was shot in Mexico City during the 'Grace For Drowning' Tour. This 3-disc release captures the spectacular live experience that Wilson and Hoile created for the tour and a bonus short film on Blu-Ray, and the concert audio is also included on two CDs. It will be released just one month after his highly anticipated fifth solo album 'To the Bone'. 'Grace For Drowning' was Wilson's second solo album, following 2009's exceptionally well-received 'Insurgentes', saw tremendous support from the press who have remained loyal to him ever since. The album tour was his first ever solo tour, and for it he assembled a virtuoso band featuring Marco Minnemann (drums), Nick Beggs (bass), Theo Travis (flute and sax), Adam Holzman (keys) and Niko Tsonev (guitars), to accompany him. The shows immersed fans in a rich sensory experience: rear speakers provide surround-sound effects, giant screens show off Lasse's films made specifically to accompany these songs, and cutting-edge lighting designs giving texture to each song. Get All You Deserve captures one of the highlight shows from the tour, recorded at a sold-out Teatro Metropólitan in Mexico City. This new 3-Disc version of 'Get All You Deserve' will be presented in Media Book packaging. Review: True Musical Genius - The ' Get All You Deserve' set is the live culmination of two studio albums and proves that Steven Wilson is not just brilliant in the studio. This set is not the only live album from this tour, to get the bills paid and get the tour around Europe he had to raise money quickly so he produced a limited edition of 3000 cd's called 'Catalogue, Preserve, Amass' which was largely made up of the first gig at Shepherd's Bush, London. It was a big success, sold out quickly and can now only be found on auction sites, it shows his determination to make this tour happen. This set is more slickly produced and the 5.1 surround sound on the DVD is just awesome which I suppose is not surprising seeing as Robert Fripp is letting him do all the mixes on the King Crimson back catalogue. Steven Wilson never sits still, how he finds time to keep so many high quality projects( Porcupine Tree, No-Man, Blackfield, Bass Communion and solo work) going is amazing. My only regret about the success of his solo work is that it could mean the sidelining of his other work for sometime to come but one has to expect that of a man who is constantly pushing the musical boundaries. The new solo album should be out in late March, I can't wait! Review: The Ultimate Steven Wilson Experience on DVD - There is nothing on this DVD that disappoints. The jazz and ambient progressive elements draw you in and each track blends beautifully into the next. Get all you deserve showcases brilliant musicians and together they take you on a magical musical ride which you don't want to end. Steven Wilson's quirky side is more evident in this DVD and you sense that he is in his element conducting the musicians around him. The brilliant Adam Holzman on keyboards ("sectarian" is pure genius); Marco Minnemann on drums is faultless; Nick Beggs on bass/stick/backing vocals is awesome; Niko Tsonev on guitar is spell binding; Theo Travis on sax/flute/clarinet/keys takes it to another level; and finally the main man himself, Steven Wilson, with his seamless vocals and awesome rhythm guitar and keys make "Get All You Deserve" an astonishing musical experience. I can't get enough of this guy, he is truly one of a kind and continues to innovate musically. Just buy it and immerse yourself in The Steven Wilson Experience!

One of the best live blurays ever.
I know many will think my title is a bit 'over-the-top' but I DO feel this is as good as any bluray live album released to date. Why? Because: 1/Visually it is stunning and the camera angles are expertly shot (not the 'Wayne's World' style 'extreme close-ups' which many rock blurays suffer from for example}; 2/ sound quality is equally stunning {in fact when you take the output of your bluray to a good asychronous dac it is hard to hear much difference between this and the cd version even when played over a good cd transport); and finally of course the music, which includes the performance of the musicians is excellent and IMO better than the originals. If I was to be ULTRA picky I might say that Steven Wilson's voice perhaps wasn't at his best but really that would be splitting hairs because the addition of Marco Minnerman on drums and Adam Holzman on keyboards in particular elevate Steven Wilson's fine solo music to even greater heights. For anyone interested in 'getting into' Steven Wilson's solo stuff, start here!

best british band since hendrix
I'm not being facetious - apart from my utter infatuation with Yes, few things have excited me as much as my first tranny-under-the-pillow pirate broadcast of Jimi Hendrix: off the top of my head, Karmakanik's "Wheel Of Life" CD,King Crimson's "Eyes Wide Open" DVD, Dream Theater's "Live At Budokan" DVD, Steve Vai&Co's "G3 Live In Denver" DVD, Threshold's "Critical Energy" DVD...but Stephen Wilson's exquisite DVD is something else. On my system the 96/24 mix is the best sound I have heard since the 1970's brief flirtation with quadrophonics (but it doesn't sound well on systems with small speakers!). I got hooked on DVDs when I started watching the BBC Proms after I became allergic to headphones and bought my first serious NAD set-up (having paid off my mortgage!). As I could no longer attend live concerts, DVDs were really the only way for me to fully appreciate the unbelievable competence of the best musicians (better than concerts for the involving camera-work). With the much-loved NAD replaced by a HD 7.1 system, my old DVDs sound fabulous. I have not bought anything since Cream's joyous RAH come-back in 2005. Just nothing out there I could find! This, though: the music moves through sound worlds I have only ever dreamed of. Subtle, complex, achingly beautiful. Uncompromising: between the extremes of cool austerity and full-on fusion it weaves a spell that gets deep into what makes this genre the most sublime of sonic experiences.

Insanely good CD from Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree, Blackfield, and other projects! Steven Wilson is the greatest producer, writer, and arranger than you might not have ever heard of. He is a prog rock master. His solo band on this recording is stellar. Marco Minnemann on drums, Adam Holzman on keys, who creates similar soundscapes as Richard Barbieri does in Porcupine Tree, the incomparable Nick Beggs on bass and the Chapman stick, Niko Tsonev on lead guitar, and Theo Travis on sax, clarinet, flute, and keys. The best way to describe this recording, for those unfamiliar with Steven or Porcupine Tree, is that they are sort of a cross between Pink Floyd and Tool, but with a sometimes softer edge that is punctuated by deeply affecting ballads and woodwinds. The lush soundscapes, odd meters that actually groove, and the wall of sound they produce is stunning. But, when they crank it up, get ready to rock! There is really no one out there who does what they do. Personally, I think Steven has, in many ways, developed beyond Pink Floyd, a 21st century incarnation of prog brilliance. That is a lot coming from a life long Pink Floyd fanatic, so that is saying something...

A great concert, beautifully captured in this set. I just recently was introduced to SW's music so I am trying to catch up with several Porcupine Tree cd's and DVD's as well as his newest endeavours. I am in awe with the creativity and the musicianship in everything I have beard so far and this (Get All You Deserve) set only reinforces my appreciation for Wilson's great talent and the talents of the musicians he surrounds himself with. Super tight musicianship and grate production! Gary
