Plug bulb in before using
When I first took it out of the package, I thought I was sent a faulty detector. As I was looking through the instructions, it said something about removing the bulb. I checked and it wasn't pushed in all the way. After that, it works great. It makes the uv mark shine brighter than using a UV/led nail lamp. I'm guessing it's not plugged in all the way so it doesn't get damaged in shipping (?) Had to get this as there's been loads of reports of fake money going round. Can't risk getting fakes

Fast and powerful
The unit has three UV tube emitters which give a powerful UV light from switch on. Once you know what to look for on a banknote or article it is immediately apparent if the item of concern has the necessary marks or not. I thought of marking it down by one star for not telling me what to look for (on my suspect £20 notes) but realised that that would be impossible with all the different currencies, denominations and currency issues out there. As the warm up is so short (a second or two at most) you would not need to keep it switched on if you were using it in a commercial enterprise so the life expectancy would be very good.This is certainly something I could recommend.
