I bought two copies of this for two families. Both have expressed delight with it.

Bought this as a reference for my family, it's a lovely informative book and strangely it has disappeared to someone else's bookshelf!

Lots of useful information good for planning trips

Handy as a pre walk guide (because of its size) and tried several of the places to swim, which was really good fun.

An excellent book packed full of ideas for everyone. I was a little dubious as I have seen these sort of guides before, with a dozen tourist trap places padded out with photos and maps. Not this guide. It is PACKED with information and ideas, something for everyone whether it's eating, walking, scrambling, swimming, caving (etc etc) or just gawping.The good news is that latitude and longitude is provided for each location and it appears to very precise. The bad news is that it's latitude and longitude rather than OS grid reference. You try finding a location on an OS map by L&L. Then again, there is a well organised list at the back of the book giving OS grid references so on the whole I'm not inclined to dock points. In fact the whole book is very well organised.There are a good few places in here that I know of or have been to but many, many more that I had no knowledge of, many in locations close to places I have visited. Ah well, any excuse to revisit the Dales or the Lakes.An excellent guide. My thanks to the authors. Highly recommended.

Information on the lesser known areas. Split into areas and features. I visit the Lakes regularly and thought I knew most places. However this book has introduced me to a whole range of new places to visit.

Most guidebook look the same and explain the same - This one is diffrent and it is called wild for a reason - The photography is top notch and you get the opportunity to see places that most guide booked would probably have missed with the emphasis on nature adventures eg Wild - The best guidebook I have used for a very long time

I bought this as we were off to the lakes for a few days, with a spare afternoon. We followed the book, cross referenced with a map and found a beautiful deserted beach. Totally worth the cost of the book and will be using it again and again

Even in areas as heavily touristed as England's Lake District and Yorkshire Dales, there are places off the beaten path that can make a great vacation. This Wild Guide has the information, in a well put-together book loaded with color photography and pithy, useful information sets. Of note, the guide caters to visitors who want to swim, boat, and beachcomb in the area (weather permitting, of course), along with the usual hiking.The guide is broken by geographic area, nicely indexed up front. Each section offers lots of suggestions and opinions, including good eats. The indexing for the wonderful photographs takes a little extra work, but they are worth the effort. The suggested adventures include stuff for kids, and for those who might not be as athletic as they used to be. Well recommended.

Die Idee ist klasse, aber nicht besonders gut umgesetzt. Größtes Manko sind die Landkarten, die so schwach gedruckt sind, daß man schlecht etwas erkennen kann. Auch der Text ist teils einfach zu schwach gedruckt. Werde keines mehr von der Serie kaufen.
