There’s is no audible click on the retrieve but there’s a click on the drag system. This reel free spools on the retrieve. You can spin the handle and take up excess line quickly to fight the fish on the reel. Awesome feature of this reel!!!

Many modern good quality reels to not have click drag anymore .. Maxcatch reels have served me very well .
