List of Changes: What's ULTRA about Pokemon Ultra Sun
Similar to Pokemon Black and White 2; Pokémon Ultra Moon takes place in the same area as Pokemon Sun, Alola but with an alternate storyline, new pokemon to collect and a few new features. Here are the list of changes/additions: 1. Story puts emphasis on the legendary Pokémon Necrozma. The core story of the Alolan trails stay the same. Alola map layout is the same with exception of a few new buildings, a new mini-island Ultra Megalopolis and worm hole. 3/4 of the game will feel very familiar to you plot wise if you played the original sun/moon 2. New enemy Group: Ultra Recon Squad and Team Rainbow Rocket. You can fight against all team rocket leaders in past games such as Giovanni (Pokémon Red and Blue) to Lysandre (Pokémon X and Y). 3. 3 new Ultra Beasts: UB Assembly, UB Burst and UB Adhesive 4. 8 trails instead of 7, with the 8th trail captain being Mina. 5. New legendary Pokémon Necrozma with Dusk Mane, Dawn Wings, and Ultra forms. You get the forms by absorbing legendary Pokémon Solgaleo and/or Lunala. 6. New Partner Cap Pikachu. It's just a Pikachu with Ash's (?) hat. New Lycanroc Dusk Form 7. New Z-Moves Clangorous Soulblaze - Kommo-o Splintered Stormshards - Lycanroc Searing Sunraze Smash - Solgaleo and Dusk Mane Necrozoma Menacing Moonraze Maelstrom - Lunala and Dawn Wings Necrozma Let's Snuggle Forever - Mimikyu Light That Burns the Sky - Ultra Necrozma 8. Mega Stones are also returning, but you have to find them 9. SOS battles. Now toned down, instead of wild pokemon calling unlimited SOS pokmeon it's just 1 this time 10. new clothing options will be available for players to purchase 11. Battle Agency. Battle random trainers with rental pokemon. The more battles you win the more rare rental pokemon you get and prizes you earn 12. Mantne Surf. As you fast travel from island to island, you can play a mini game where you ride Mantne through the ocean waves and preform tricks racking up points for a while score which can get you rewards. 13. Ultra Wormhole. Similar to Mantne surf where you play a mini-game (fly through rings) to travel to the Ultra Space where you fight and collect rare/legendary pokemon the further down you go. In this game you can literally get all legendaries from past generations if you own both games (list provided later on) 14. Alola Photo Club. Take photos with your pokemon, and add stamps/borders to the photos taken with more stamps/borders unlocked as you submit more photos 15. Totem Stickers. Replacement of collecting Zygard Cells in the original games. By collecting them you can trade them for Totem pokemon. 16. New Moves: Mind Blown - Fire-type Move. Learned by UB Burst. Photon Geyser - Psychic-type Move Plasma Fists - Electric-type Move. Learned by Zeraor 17. Roto-Loto. You can now be friends with Rotom (your pokedex) and unlock gives you items your pokemon can carry to increase stats such as exp gain, better friendship, more prize money from fighting trainers, faster egg hatching, use Z-move twice during battle, etc 18. Pokemon differences between Ultra Sun and Moon. No new alolan forms, but the ones in the original is still present. Here are a list of exclusive pokemon in each: -Ultra Sun-Exclusive Pokemon Alolan Vulpix Alolan Ninetales Houndour Houndoom Cranidos Rampardos Cottonee Whimsicott Tirtouga Carracosta Rufflet Braviary Lurantis (Totem-sized) Passimian Turtonator -Ultra Sun-Exclusive Legendaries Ho-oh Raikou Groudon Latios Dialga Heatran Reshiram Tornadus Xerneas Buzzwole Kartana Dusk Mane Necrozma UB-Burst -Ultra Moon-Exclusive Pokemon Alolan Sandshrew Alolan Sandslash Electrike Manectric Shieldon Bastiodon Petilil Lilligant Archen Archeops Vullaby Mandibuzz Salazzle (Totem-sized) Oranguru Drampa -Ultra Moon-Exclusive Legendaries Lugia Entei Kyogre Latias Palkia Regigigas Zekrom Thundurus Yveltal Lunala Pheromosa Celesteela Dawn Wings Necrozma UB-Assembly 19. New pokemon aside from those already mentioned: Stakataka Blacephalon Poipole Naganadel Zeraora Hope the list of changes help you in your purchasing decision. If you find anything else, please put it in the comments === Now I'll post my original review of Pokemon Sun: Huge changes to the pokemon formula since Pokemon X & Y, no longer as it's strictly battle and collecting focused (although still present) as they added variety of mechanics to switch things up a bit and to bring more variety in gameplay. Changes include: 1. No HMs No longer do you have to carry around a HM slave (s). This has bothered me in the past games as I have to restrict 1 or 2 slots out of my party of 6 to help traverse certain areas of the world. In the place of HMs there are Poké Rides where you can ride pokemon interacting with them on the world map, some you may not be able to access until you've completed mission within the game. 2. Is it super effective? No longer do you have to look up guides online (unless it's your first encounter) to tell if a move is super effective or not very effective against the pokemon you're up against. After you battle a pokemon once, the game will tell you what moves is super effective or not in the battle menu once you encounter the same pokemon the second time. 3. No Traditional Gyms No longer do you have to battle your way through gym after gym to prove you're the best out of brute force. There are 4 islands in the game, each of which are controlled by 4 Island Kahunas To get to them you have to get pass Trail Captains and Todum Pokemon Trail captain will give you quizzes, side quests to complete, and/or fight in traditional battles Todum Pokemon. Basically typical pokemon you find the wild, but significantly stronger and have grunts that help them battle. 4. Rotom Pokédex Typical pokedex, but with a face and personality attached to it. 5. Alola Forms Basically different forms of pokemon you seen in previous generations. Either it's there physical form that is different and/or the pokemon's typing 6. Z-Moves With a Z-Ring and a Z-Crystal you can use a pokemon's ultimate move once per battle. It's not like Mega Evolutions where it stays constant 7. QR Scanner. You can now scan QR codes to get event pokemon 8. Battle Royal A 4 player free-for-all where the battle ends after all of one's pokemon trainer's faints. They tally the win-losses of each trainer and the one with best stats at the end wins 9. Hyper Training. Once a pokemon reaches level 100, they can go through hyper training which can improve a Pokemon's IV 10. Poké Pelago Your PC Box now has functionality to it. It's like a day care sort of thing, instead of just depositing your pokemon, you can passively train them in the PC or have them search for items 11. Festival Plaza. An online mode where you can battle other trainers and trade with them. You get festial coins for each interaction which you can spend on clothes, shop or upgrade your pokemon's stats. There's also missions you can undertake to get more coins. 12. Night and Day phase, New Pokemon Pokemon Sun goes the traditional time route while Moon does the opposite. In Pokemon Moon if you're playing in the daytime, the game will consider it night time in-game. Some events also play out differently like different Totum Pokemon on the same island/trail In traditional Pokemon fashion you can only get some pokemon in each version so trading is required either with a friend or if you own both versions. Also some pokemon evolve differently in each version now. I'd say some of overall models of new pokemon are better looking than the last batch in previous iterations of the pokemon series. 13. Auto Run Your run is as fast as a bike now, and it has unlimited use. You can now move in all directions instead of the traditional 4 and it feels very fluid 14. No Rod Fishing is now dedicated to specific regions in the world. You cannot fish wherever you want anymore. 15. Photo Taking You can now take Photos of pokemon in the wild. 16. Team Skull and Aether Foundation Team Skull is the new antagonist group like Team Rocket, but they have a new style to them as they try act gangster-ish with their animated hand gesters/movements. They have more personality and have a darker tone to their backstory and mission. Aether Foundation is the opposite of Team Skull as their mission is to cure injured and hurt pokemon. The group is also conducting research on the Ultra Beast (Pokemon) which is a good mystery story in and of itself. 17. Graphical Upgrade Game looks better than the last, although there are some pixelation around the edges still. Models look more realistic than before, and the battle animations are more visually impressive. There are some framerate issues on 2v2 battles for some reason, but then again I own the launch 3DS. You may not have the issue if you own the New 3DS? It's a turn-based system so it doesn't really matter much in terms of gameplay, but the slow down is noticeable 18. Pokemon Refresh Similar to Pokemon amie but with more grooming options -Returning mechanics: Pokebank return, you can now transfer all your pokemon to Sun and Moon Clothing Options: Although more options are available, it still feel very limited. Mega Evolutions return, but none for new pokemon from what i've discovered Overall, love the changes to the traditional formula as it gives the Pokemon Series a nice refresh and is more streamline to play.

pokemon games are best
this is a really fun Pokémon game. I still have mine. I still enjoy it and it's definitely worth getting again. It's hard to find like this nowadays so if you get it, make sure you keep it

Great game, big improvement from Pokemon X and Y.
Pokemon Ultra Sun is a big improvement from Pokemon X and Y. (Though Pokemon X/Y are amazing) you can really tell the art style and the battle graphics have taken a huge leap from the previous games. The game has a great story line that takes place in Alola, a unique region with alolan Pokemon and the all new Z-moves. Though I prefer mega evolution to Z-moves Z-moves are a great alternative. Pokemon Ultra Sun is a game with many things to do and you don't have to do what the game wants you to do you can do whatever you want whenever you want. The new trial and grand trials are unique and challenging (believe me it took 12 tries to defeat Kommo-O) and it is a really good attempt to change things up from the normal gyms. Also festival plaza is a great new addition to the game where you can connect with others if the story gets to hard and just complete missions or do wonder trades. The GTS is also a great feature brought back from Pokemon X and Y but you have to be careful because some trades can give you a virus if not legitimate (My festival plaza was blocked for 3 days after trading with hacker.) Also the breeding feature is great and a way to get rare Pokemon easily. Team RR was a great after story adventure featuring previous villains Lysandre, Geovanni Ext. There are so many post game things to do breed Pokemon, Festival plaza, Mantine surfing and you can travel through Ultra space. The game also features people from Pokemon X and Y like Sina, Dexio, Lysandre, and Looker if you did the post game tasks in X/Y. Overall, this game is probably the best Pokemon game I have ever played up to Sword and Shield.

If you like Sun and Moon, you'll love this!
Sun and Moon were good games, and this is a great game! It reminds me of the older games, such as Ruby as Sapphire, which would be followed by a third version that was better in practically every way. While having an Ultra Sun AND an Ultra Moon might be a touch necessary, there is no question about which is the superior game. Compared to its predecessor, this game has: - More refined dialogue. One of Sun and Moon's weaknesses was the incessant dialogue throughout the game. This has been cleaned up. - Less hand-holding. The game does still drag in places, but it no longer feels the need to hold your hand throughout the first two hours of gameplay. I still wish there was an option to indicate to the game that you know what you're doing, but that's a problem all Pokemon games share. - A more polished story. - Increased difficulty. If you're like me and you like a challenging game, Sun and Moon were probably a disappointment in that regard. In my opinion, Ultra Sun hits the perfect balance between too challenging and too easy. It's a tough game, but no so much you'd want to put it down. - Better post-game. Sun and Moon had a very short post game (even though it was fun), and Ultra Sun has improved on that. It's longer and more challenging - I'm still playing long after completing the main game! - Better graphics throughout - And heaps of added content. There's new stuff everywhere. Even if you just finished playing Sun and Moon, Ultra Sun had enough new content to keep me searching around for new things even in places I'd already seen. In short, this is the "definitive" Alola game. If you like a good Pokemon game, chances are you'll enjoy this one.

Fantastic Game, Great End to the 3DS Era!
There is so much to do in this game it's unreal! There are over a hundred side quests in the game with many returning from the previous games and many new quests as well. The quests that require you to catch a certain Pokémon have all changed to another mon required. The storyline itself is almost entirely different outside of the inclusion of the Ultra Beasts. Lusamine's motives did a complete 180 in this game, which I felt was a bit of a let down but it was more true to her character's determination to protect Pokémon. The previous Post-Game UB side quest was replaced with Team Rainbow Rocket instead. There are now eight trials instead of seven with two trials remaining completely the same. The totems are different this time around too and the side stuff leading up to the totem battle is different as well. It is different enough that it does have the feeling of a different game, but at the same time this game feels like what Pokémon Sun and Moon should have originally been in the first place. Glad to see this series go out with a bang before moving over to the Switch. There are many wonderful additions to the game, however it is a bit annoying to track down the legendary Pokémon since they are essentially appearing at random through the Ultra Wormhole.

Perfect for beginners and seasoned players alike.
I loved Ultra Moon and wanted to replay, but, I already have like 20 or so shinies (SOS, wormhole and Masuda), I didn't want to switch them all over to sun, so I bought Ultra Sun to go with it. I can wait to shiny hunt Buzzwole (another reason why I bought the game). An awesome shiny and a bug type. The shiny hunting is relatively easier in this game with method hunting. The game play is hand holding and some cutscenes are long. With no skip button, it gets kind of irritating in a second playthrough. The clothing choices are much better in Ultra than the regular sun and moon. The day cycles still confuse me (Sun and Ultra Sun are normal, but, Moon and Ultra Moon it's night time during the day). The post games are better than in previous generations, but, I'm more interested in completing my Shiny LivingDex. If you're new to Pokémon this game will be perfect for beginners. My mom was able to play it easily without asking a ton of questions like when I let her play my Leaf Green game. She quit after the first gym and said it was too hard.

Pokemon Ultra Sun and Moon pushes the boundary that past games couldn't even reach.
I've played Pokemon Sun and Moon and I'm happy to say that this sister game is much better. Let me make a short list of what makes this game better than its predecessors and what just simply makes Pokemon Ultra Sun and Moon awesome but I will include the stuff that weren't that great: 1. Expanded Pokedex. This lets players choose from a way bigger selection of Pokemon to use. Includes older Pokemon that are always cool to use. 2. The story of the game is much more fleshed out and exciting. Keeps one glued to your 3DS (or 2DS). 3. Like the past game, you need to worry about HM moves, enabling a player to use any Pokemon they want without consequence. 4. The region itself is a little expanded and improved with new locations and better layouts for some older places. It wouldn't be right if I didn't include some drawbacks to this game (related to the gameplay and my personal observations of it). These are: 1. You need to download a update (or patch) since as it is, they are glitches (Why? I believe it's because the franchise rushed this game out too fast and it's a shame as no other Pokemon game has had this problem). One glitch for example is that the game may freeze up if you choose Litten as your starter. So get the patch at the Nintendo Shop (It's free). 2. There was not that much improvement, expansion, or changes to the region layout. Many of the places look exactly the same as the Sun and Moon. I expected more structures, cooler looking routes,or more daunting cities and towns. 3. It's not until the post-story that the actual plot is very different. Beforehand, the story plays to similarly like Sun/Moon. Sure, some stuff is different, but the sameness is noticeable. So I'll probably edit as I remember more strengths and drawbacks of Ultra Sun and Moon but for now, the game is much more playable then Sun/Moon and has some sweet new stuff and improvements. But with that said, most of it's flaws still stayed around since Sun/Moon that I thought that would be improved. Some new flaws present themselves though like downloading a patch. Anyway, this game is still very awesome and I would play this game over and over again and keep it in my Pokemon game collection. You should too!
