FIRESIDE GREENHOUSE HEATER PARAFFIN HEATER ANTI FROST

I was so delighted with this little heater that I bought a second one. Both of them are working perfectly. I have had not trouble at all with the heaters producing any soot or smoke. I have had many paraffin heaters in the past including indoor ones when I was growing up so I do have a lot of experience with them. The height of the wick is usually what causes problems because people have them too high. There only needs a very small piece of wick showing - just enough to light it - and once lit make sure there is no smoke before putting the cover on. The flame does not need to be very high at all and is easily adjusted so that there is no smoke. I have had the first heater alight for just over a week before turning them both off yesterday as the temperature rose. There was still a little fuel left in it so they are very economical. I trimmed the wick too although it could have been left for a little longer. One piece of advice - do not buy the wick suggested on the Amazon page! They suggest one inch wide which is about twice the width you need. This little heater therefore is brilliant! It is only for use in small greenhouses (mine is about 5ft by 2ft 6in) or cold frames of course. A larger heater would be needed in bigger greenhouses. I highly recommend this heater.

I'm using this for a 5ft by 6ft greenhouse and it seem to be keeping it frost free. Build quality is OK although the wick adjuster seems a bit flimsy. So far it does work OK. Adjusting the wick is problematic though. If you don't get it just right it either isn't warm enough or it gets so covered in soot inside it needs to be scrubbed clean. This happened to me once but I've managed to get the wick adjusted OK now.Overall it works OK and is relatively robust although in retrospect it's probably a bit small for this size of greenhouse and would be better in a smaller one or better still a cold frame.

excellent for keeping greenhouse frost free

I bought this product to use as a greenhouse heater to keep it frost-free. I've never used one of these before, but I was surprised how quickly it became clogged up with soot and consequently kept going out. I have often found in the morning that it went out at some point during the night, despite having plenty of paraffin left in it. It may stay on if the top guard is left off, but of course that would mean having a naked flame burning, which I don't feel happy doing. I have now resorted instead to wrapping up plants individually to protect them from frost: cheaper, safer and more reliable. I'm happy to sell it back to Amazon if they're interested.

I bought this to keep a 2m x3m very well insulated shed from suffering from freezing and damaging certain items. It operates well enough, but failed keep the internal temperature above freezing. Outside temperature was -4. Best suited for small frames and tiny green houses.

Nice sturdy well made metal construction, easy to fill and operate.The wick is very long so should last quite a while. Have had this running the last 3 nights and it provided just enough warmth to keep my plants a couple of degrees warmer than outside temperature.Happy to recommend
