Great for someone who has an introductory knowledge in Java. The book is well descriptive with great examples and error cases. It also provides tests at the end of each chapter to ensure the content has been clearly understood and prepare you for the exam.

The books collect all the necessary materials for OCA and OCP and present them in an easy to understand and remember way.

The reason for this purchase is due to not being challenged enough at my university so i decided to get this book to study to try and obtain my OCP certification the book in my opinion is great it's clear and concise and easy to understand for others if they are not as advanced into programming also the examples are great and not as boring as the generic ones you get in other books.

Great set of books, informative and useful, I fully recommend it!

This book will definitely gives you all you need to pass on Oracle Java exam. Higly recommend.

This is one of the best Java books on the market. Boyarsky and Selikoff are really amazing - they explained niche and obscure concepts that always alluded me about Java, even after having majored and completed my BS of Computer Engineering at University and working as a Software Engineer in a big city in for ~1 year (yes, I'm still relatively new).I did take a few C++/Java classes and data structures and algorithms while undergraduate, so I wasn't at point 0 in terms of experience. If you are COMPLETELY brand new to coding and don't understand classes or constructors or the absolute BASICS, you may want to start with HEAD FIRST JAVA as they state in the book.Otherwise, they do an amazing job explaining the very basics of Java, data types, garbage collection, numeric promotion, core Java APIs, introduction to lambda expressions and functional interfaces, OOP design using abstract classes, interfaces, inheritance and overloading/overriding ,and exception handling.I went a while being pretty mediocre at Java, even while working as a SWE, but I noticed it was holding me back. These books were recommended to me by another co-worker and it's really increased my Java game immensely; I feel like I can finally say I understand the language. Also, for those of you trying to learn Java, JavaScript, Python, C++ all at once - as many people will tell you, don't do it! Just master 1 language of your choice (doesn't have to be Java). Most languages have so much overlap, and a deep understanding in one language will make learning the others MUCH easier, rather than having a mediocre understanding of Java then trying to learn Python, you will just end up a "Jack of all trades, master of none"I am going through the OCP now.
