Question 1

Will this connect to a Karcher WD2 vacuum cleaner?

Accepted Answer

In the photo on the yellow hand unit and the black hose, you can see the conical rubber plug at the other end of the hose. This plugs into the vacuum hose hole on my silverline 1250w wet&dry vacuum cleaner 675260. I just unscrew the hose and put the rubber plug in instead. TIP if you get one of these vacumes they are virtually indestructible. I've had mine for a good 10 years now with no issues at all. The second tip is when using the Mirka sanding blocks with vacuum extraction put an old sports sock over the vacuum exhaust hole to prevent all fine dust leaks. It's almost as if the exhaust hole is designed for this as it has a lip around the edge to aid coiling the power lead up when not in use and this fits the end of a sock perfectly and keeps it then when in use. The vacume also has a uk 3 pin power take off socket and it works to turn on the vacume when any plugged in electric sander is turned on. I also use masking tape to link the black hose to electrc sanders with a vacume hose attatchment ability when not using the mirka sanding block. The sanding block abradent strips come in all grades and it's a great bit of kit, great for unclogged sanding of all home DIY jobs. I even sand down ready to pollish up G Plan furnature, ceilings, walls, doors etc.. brilliant is the best description. saving up to buy the Mirka elecric sander next..

Question 2

Can it connect to other type of vacuum cleaner, eg. Miele or Bosch (not just Henry)

Accepted Answer

Rest Express - Wood Finishing Products: Yes, you can use this with other brands of vacuum. However, the sanding process can generate finer dust than a domestic level machine is designed to cope with, so that's something to be aware of. The hose has a fluted rubber bung so it can fit into sockets between 35 - 55mm. If you would like any further information, please contact Rest Express on 01285 831668

Question 3

Can this be used to sand satin wood paint?

Accepted Answer

If by sanding Satin wood paint you mean to provide a key for recoating the answer is yes .

However if your intention is the complete removal of the paint I'd suggest another method such as a paint stripper .. Other products are available too .

Question 4

Can this be used with a bag less domestic upright vacuum ? We don’t have a Henry which everyone seems to report it being best to attach to

Accepted Answer

I had a similar concern - didn't want to clog up and burn out our household Miele vacuum and didn't want to buy a Henry or shop vac. Instead, I bought a dust cyclone and flexible hose on Amazon, combined it with a plastic drum and now use it between the (in my case, orbital) sander and the vacuum cleaner. The cyclone removes the vast majority of the dust (note, a little does get through). Cheaper than a Henry too. The down-side is that it does take up a fair bit of room, both in use and in the garage. Lots of how-to videos on YouTube if this appeals.
