CalmexPlug in Diffuser Starter Kit for Cats and Dogs

This has my dogs sleeping or calm quite quickly and I've received compliments on the smell from visitors. Already started to recommend to people I know.

Why did you choose this product over others?:Had used the Calmex Car Diffuser from having my dog at 8wks & from first car ride experience she coped really well & I still have no problems at 2yrs old with car journeys & she doesn't have regular trips out in the car & I haven't had a diffuser in the car for 8 mths. I decided to buy diffuser for the house as at 18mths she started to be more unsettled & vocal, her second firework night she showed fear & hiding, loud noises suddenly affected her. From 8wks on homing her I had used Adaptil consistently but then stopped as I wanted to see if/how as she was maturing, what her behaviour needed. After her second Nov 5th & Christmas/New Year, I decided to try Calmex based on how introducing her to being in a car had been. It is quite a strong smell when new, actually gave me a headache, but I'm pleased with her behaviour & reaction to stress, her barking at the TV has reduced as well but then I have also taken responsibility & been more aware of her triggers & she is now 2yrs old so still young. It's made a difference & I will continue to use rather than calming supplements.

Not sure if it really works but I love the smell and it certainly doesn't bother my cat!

So my vet recommended this as I used another brand ,but I’m not sure if this one actually works or not as I only put it on for half hour , I couldn’t stand the smell it gives off, it smells strong like really cheep musky , powdery perfume wear as my other one we couldn’t smell so strong . Back to the old brand .

Did the job

I currently have 2 cats and despite following all the tutorials and advice on introducing cats to each other there is still an element of anxiety and territorial behaviour occurring. My older cat has lived with other cats, with zero issues but for whatever reason just clashes with my new kitten. The kitten is gorgeous but did come with a variety of behaviour issues due to the home he came from not looking after him correctly so he is highly anxious at times but also very territorial so that adds to why they clash.I spoke to my vet for further advice and to rule out any underlying health issues for both cats and they recommended Calmex after I had tried other plug in brands like feliway.I was excited to try this and at the very least hoped I would see both cats be a bit less anxious around each other. However this hasn’t been the case, I’ve seen little improvement to either cats.I have accepted that not everything I try will work for each cat as they both have their own personalties but this time I was hopeful due to the vet recommend and reviews I have read. What made it all worse was this plug in (while a not a horrid smell) is very very overpowering, the smell fills the room and is so strong I could smell it everywhere.I have asthma and this caused me to cough constantly but I continued using it for 3 weeks for the benefit of the cats and I tried moving the plug in so I didn’t have to deal with the smell as much but it still affected me. When it became clear it just wasn’t working for my cats I turned it off. I have used other plug ins in the past and never been this affected so if like me you have asthma or allergies and struggle with strong smells I would avoid this.I am disappointed as I hoped as this was vet recommended this would work but for me it didn’t. I am now looking at other ideas and brands to help my cats.

My Labrador was going through a phase of being afraid of everything, noises loud voices from outside our house. I asked our Vet what they would recommend and he suggested this product. Within minutes my dog was asleep. After waking up he was like a new dog. It definitely does it's job well. Highly recommended.

Product does have a distinct smell but not unpleasant,I used it late afternoon and evening and it seems to have settled our dog down and he seems a lot happier. If it carries on working I would say that it is good value
