Large, light duty. Not large, heavy duty.
Let me make this clear. This is NOT a heavy duty vise. It is a large, light duty vise. The screw is spindly and the tiny tightening handle are evidence of this. For many purposes however this vise is just right. In my case a large vise that can hold stuff while I weld it. Being large it can hold anything I am likely to need it to. On that basis, that at this price point it is a good value for large but light duty, I gave it 5 stars.I removed one full curl of the screw pressure spring and it was a big improvement in turning the handle.

Nice heavy made vice
This vise is heavy made and operates very tight, no sloppy dead positions in the operating of the handle, love the foam pieces that attach to the head, and I like the reversing of the head to make a bigger bite if needed. I highly recommend this vice and its price reasonable.

Super vise!!!!
This is a well-made, sturdy, heavy buys for a very, very good price! I accidentally broke my very expensive recorder by vise and was worried I would have to spend several hundred dollars to replace it. Not with this vise. For less than $70 delivered, I’ve got a vise that was as good or better than what I had before!! It also has a much larger jaw opening and anvil area. You can’t go wrong with this product!!!A++++++++

Auto mechanic shop approved!
Professional mechanic approved! Was on the fence between this and a Yost. I really wanted a wilton, but the price turned me off. Ultimately I got this one to save money. For 75bux you cannot beat this vise. The yost was 120, so this one was considerably cheaper. It is as heavy duty as it gets. Time will tell if the jaw pads hold up, but so far so good. I use it a mechanic repair shop environment. I also have it mounted outdoors. It replaced a 5" pony vise, and this one is twice as big and heavy! It's a great value, as of now, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another as it has done everything we needed of a vise.

Dissapointed. 3 stars for usefulness & durability-4 stars for being pretty but being fairly useless
This review is for the 6 1/2" vise.I received the vise in good order. I disassembled it, painted the base because I hated the orange paint, and greased the screw and all the ways. I didn't know what to expect from the reviews, but at the price point I felt it was worth a shot, since the big name vices are all made in China at four times the price and the truly-American-made ones are the price of a new lawn tractor. The Good: The vise is well cast, well machined, the jaws line up well, and at the price point moves and functions well. The reversible feature works exactly as it should and gives an opening range of good size. For running on machined ways, the rotation is smooth. The jaws seem more precise than they really are because the screw is spring-loaded to take up slop and lash in the assembly and keeps the rotating handle tightly against the outer jaw casting. Once the grease wears thin or you get some grit in there that situation may change, but for now? All good. The Bad: This vise is very lightly built. I do not believe it will take much abuse. This vise with 6 1/2" jaws sitting next to my ancient Craftsman 5" vise makes this Vevor vise look tiny. Every effort was made to lighten the castings to save metal. The feet are hollowed out, so I recommend using some thick flat-washers the size of the outside of the feet to reinforce them. I think if you just tighten down the provided bolts, you will be able to crack the feet. The forward jaw casting is very thin. The screw is tiny. It is about 12mm diameter, retained by a flat-washer and bent cotter pin, and poorly machined. The screw on my old 5" vise is over an inch in diameter and retained with a very heavy snap ring. The bottom line is this vise is very light duty and attempting to clamp anything tightly is a recipe for disaster. The components of this vise are similar in size to 3 1/2" to 4" vises that I own, with wide 6 1/2" jaws attached. For the location and use I have planned for it, this is pretty useless for me. But then again, a comparable Wilton 6 1/2" vise will weigh three times as much and cost 4 times as much. I would send it back, but what I am going to do is use it on my welding table where I can fixture large parts in it and not have to really clamp them down. You should never use a cheater bar to tighten a vise, but I guarantee you will break this one if you try. I read a review of a guy who tried to use the vise as a bend break for sheet metal and now it doesn't work right. Based on the quality of the tiny screw and only a cotter pin retaining it, I have no doubt. This is cheap and looks nice at first glance, but i suggest you look elsewhere.

Can't be beat - for the price
I'm no vise expert but this thing is rock solid. It will do anything you ask of it.

Very sturdy vise
This vise is great for several reasons, huge jaw faces, soft jaw inserts it comes with, great anvil, the jaw is swapable to the other side for even more opening and there is another jaw on the backside to accomplish that. No slack or play either, very good screw dynamics. All in all a great vise purchase!
