Atora Vegetable Shredded Suet - 200g

I love British baking, and Paul Hollywood recipes. But so many recipes call for suet. I found the vegetarian suet, and it works WONDERFULLY!

I really liked this. The suet is in a bag and is granulated, with each granule being maybe a little larger than a grain of rice. They're firm and hold up to mixing. Just make your Christmas pudding (or other item that calls for this) according to the recipe. Christmas puddings tend to be dense. To keep them from being a firm dense mass, suet is mixed in. The The suet mixes throughout the heavy batter and when the pudding is steamed or cooked according to the recipe, the suet takes time to render/melt down into a liquid which is then absorbed by the pudding. The pudding sets and gets firm before the suet is completely rendered, and when the suet renders down, it leaves behind little pockets of air that make the pudding lighter and less dense. It worked so much better than trying to use grated frozen lard or butter.

1st box arrived damaged and we were granted a refund and repurchased. 2nd box arrived undamaged. Great for making dumplings, suet pudding, jam, golden syrup and fruit. Usually used more in the winter months. We lived in the UK and you never realize what you will miss, until you can’t get it. Glad its available on Amazon.

Makes the best british style dumplings and suet batter that I remember from home. Growing up was a staple and brought back fond memories.

Bought this for my Christmas pudding because none of the stores near me supply suet of any kind. It poured easy, mixed nicely, and seemed to work with my recipe exactly as needed. The pudding has to sit until Christmas, so if there's any unexpected results I'll update the review, but I suspect it'll do its job and everything will be great!

Worked like a charm in Christmas Pudding! No difference whatsoever from suet extracted from animal bodies.

I use this to make holiday pudding and I see no difference in texture or taste from the beef suet. I'd much rather use this than kidney fat.

Works well in mincemeat

I purchased this product as I was unable to find it in a grocery store. Most suet products were for bird feeders. I was trying to make an old Scottish recipe for a boiled pudding known as a Clootie Dumpling, similar to a fruitcake, and this was an essential ingredient. My dumpling turned out perfectly. I would buy this product again.

This product is used to make dumplings and stuffing for Xmas turkey.
