PROZOR HDMI 2.0 Audio Extractor 3x1 HDMI Switch Converter 4K/60Hz

A lightning strike during recent thunderstorms messed up some of my audio visual kit. I have a NOW TV box, a Roku and a Sony Smart Blu-ray. The HDMI output from those went into a 3-into1 HDMI switcher feeding to an Epson projector. The audio channels ran to an audio splitter and then to a sound bar and my NAD amp for a cinematic feel (not 'true' 5.1, just a semblance of it).The storms put paid to the audio splitter I had been using for some years, so I needed to find a replacement (the Epson projector is brilliant, but it's speakers are less so).I found this and it does the work of both the HDMI switcher and the audio splitter in one! Less cables, less power sockets used - tidier all round.It connected in well, simple to set up, and there is zero lag from the video to the split audio (if it slips - as it has with some previous set-ups - even a half second drop makes the lack of sync annoying to say the least!).It even included batteries for the remote - simple AAA jobs, unlike the button batteries for the remote on the previous switcher (so you have to buy a pack with loads of different cells just for the one you need).All in all I am happy with this kit. Does what it says on the tin, to overuse a cliché.

This device takes 3 hdmi inputs and has 1 hdmi output. It also takes the audio signals and transmits them via an audio optical cable (Toslink) which is a pretty standard input on a Home Cinema AV amplifier. If you find that you need to add a new hdmi-output-only device into an existing home cinema set up - this device may allow you to retain a surround sound feed!The device works out of the box - is easy to set up (do it with all power off like it tells you to!).The device seems well built but is small and, therefore, light. I find it won't stay where I would like it to - the stresses in the connected cables overwhlem it. This makes the Infra Red remote less useful. However, overall I am very pleased with this purchase.

I've had it up and running for about a week now. It seems to work OK and had good features for the price - the digital audio out mostly works for two channel decoding (I haven’t tried 5.1) and is very useful for equipment which doesn't have an SPDIF output connector (like my Sky Now box) or where your DAC has a limited number of inputs. The remote control on this switch is also very convenient.On the downside, the build quality doesn’t seem wonderful and my one ‘wobbles’ when placed on a flat surface as the base seems a bit distorted (quite an achievement for a unit that measures only 7.5cm*7.5cm!) but considering what you get for the price that isn’t too much of an issue. I also personally would have preferred if they had spread the inputs around the box a bit rather than having them all on one edge, but it depends on application. I have a few problems with my Satellite Decoder as I need to change output HDMI resolution to something else and back each time I re-start it for the digital audio out to work from this switch - I'm not sure if this is the fault of the HDMI switch or the Satellite Decoder but the output from my Sky NOW box works fine so I guess the audio problems with the Satellite Decoder are down to that unit rather than the HDMI switch. I also connected an M8 Android TV box temporarily, but this box causes glitches when it restarts for a few moments (happens every few hours) and causes the switch to change to its input during the restart, but this is the fault of the M8 box and not the HDMI switch (though perhaps the option to switch-off auto-sense of input on the HDMI switch would be nice to deal with this). Final niggle - I also would rather the box didn’t have the PIP function as it isn’t useful to me and this is processing and functionality which would be better employed elsewhere, and I wonder if there is a detrimental impact on image quality by implementing this feature.In brief… a ‘cheap and cheerful’ budget option if you need the features and convenience it offers.

I needed a product so I could connect my Panasonic Blu-Ray player and my Chromecast to the one spare HDMI input on my TV. Also, I needed to take an audio feed from these two devices to my stereo amplifier; I have no interest in 5.1 sound, so I do not use the optical digital audio output.The Prozor PST073 is perfect for the job. I use two of the HDMI inputs and connect the HDMI output to my TV. I connect the 3.5mm jack socket analogue stereo output to an input on my stereo amplifier. Everything just works, and did so straight out of the box. Because I am not using the Toslink optical digital audio output I do not know if there are any issues with getting 5.1 audio from this product; nor do I need to touch the audio output format controls on the remote. The 3.5mm jack socket analogue audio output works perfectly. The remote control allows me to select whether the Blu-Ray output or the Chromecast output is displayed on my TV. The Chromecast allows me to play YouTube videos on my TV via the HDMI switch (and hear them on my stereo system), so no problems there.The Prozor PST073 is supplied with a generous collection of cables. However, the package does not include a power supply, so you need to provide your own USB 5B power supply. You do not really need a 1A power supply (that would be a lot for a product this size); I am using a 500mA USB plug-top power supply, and the cable supplied with the Prozor PST073 plugs into that and all works.

I've had a nightmare trying to connect my XBox via toslink to my phono based 5:1 speaker system. For some reason I just cannot fathom, it does not work. So, in desperation I decided that a different approach might be needed.This claims it splits the audio from the HDMI feed. Okay I though, worth a try.It works. It works so perfectly I could curse myself for not trying earlier. HDMI in from XBOX and PC so I can share the monitor, Toslink cable out to a converter unit that has the speaker phonos plugged in. It worked. It worked without any pressing of buttons, endless fiddling with cables, and without turning the air blue from frustration. Full surround sound at whatever family frustrating volume I choose. That makes me a very happy person indeed.Worth every penny and the 10 minutes it took to set up.

Works for splitting HDMI but no audio at all. I am using Toslink through all working equipment but this device fails to work. Infrared remote barely works either and I have to hold the remote right Infront of the extractor and repeatedly press the buttons hard to get them to work

The device itself works fine, the remote however, does not. Even when pointed right in front of it, it doesn't. Sometimes pointing it at an angle 'may' work, but generally it doesn't

Had this for three weeks and am really pleased with it. I wanted a HDMI switch with a separate audio splitter/extractor to pipe sound to my CD/Hifi and portable speaker, and this is exactly that. Saves having to buy a separate sound bar with HDMI pass-through to get decent sound - and these things are expensive compared to the basic sound bars without HDMI input/output. Back to the HDMI switch - here's some pros/cons from my limited experience.PROS+ [ Good build quality] I differ from one or two reviewers who felt the build quality was found wanting. This is pretty decent and doesn’t feel like it will fall apart any time soon. Time will tell.+ [ Good remote/sensitivity ] The remote is quite sensitive / responsive unlike an older HDMI splitter which often left me cursing while repeatedly pressing and pointing the remote at the unit. This one just works.+ [ No switching or audio lag ] Audio lag was a real concern for me but I’m glad I’ve been proven wrong, having tested it with a Sky box, a Roku box and a laptop. Additionally, switching between HDMI inputs is pretty fast - just under a second. Another HDMI switch I had took around 3-5 seconds for some inexplicable reason.+ [ No separate IR receiver ] Unlike some HDMI switches, the IR receiver is built into the box itself. This may be a cons for some, as you lose the flexibility of hiding this out of sight, but it works for me and saves having to carry one more accessory.+ [ USB powered ] No need for separate power adaptor but you do need a spare USB port on your TV or nearby.+ [ Good value ] Almost all the other HDMI switches (multiple input) with separate audio output typically cost £30-£40, may be one or two at £25, so this is pretty good value. Those within this price range often support only one HDMI input.CONS- [ No separate IR receiver ] OK, it’s not a cons for me but it may be for you, if you want to hide the unit out of sight. Well, you can’t since the IR receiver is built into the box itself. Not a real cons for me but just to highlight its design.- [ No separate power adaptor ] OK, again, not a cons for me but worth highlighting that, if you’ve maxed out the USB ports on your TV, you’ll need a separate USB hub.
