I don’t think it would be easy to cut the foam pieces halfway down. Each piece is about 1/2” x 1/2” x 2” in size, I gave more exact values in an earlier answer.

The foam I got had sections of size about 1/2” x 1/2” x 2”. They were actually a bit smaller, 0.47” x 0.47” x 1.93”. When my order came it was compressed so it looked very thin and I was sure they sent the wrong stuff but I was wrong and it expanded to full size.
