It's working!!
Well - I was getting concerned, but so far all is well!! First - I probably should have waited until I was closer to ready to install before purchasing - but that is on me! By the time I was actually ready to bolt this to concrete - my Amazon return window had passed, I was concerned - but I did put power to it and knew at least the motor turns the gears! THEN, I went to a local supply store that sells a good majority of the gates and gate openers in our rural area. I was there for some screws, but thought I would look at their openers - THEN, I was really concerned! There was not an opener in the store that would fit in the back seat of a car! They were all huge! This Co-Z opener looked like a toy in comparison! Perhaps one of these openers had a baby, that was premature, and that is what I got!! Seriously though, at that point - I was VERY concerned about this tiny little gatre opener that I was in the process of building my concrete box for - the openers that were at this store were at least 2x as big as my concrete pad! BUT, I am already past my return period so I carry on. To make a long story a bit shorter - most of the problems that I had with installation were my own fault! I had never installed a gate opener before so I was pretty clueless. The worst part, for me - was because I didn't know better - and had other projects going, so I paid someone to do the condrete pad AND they did it wrong! They placed the mounting holes 12 inches from the gate!! Once I dealt with that issue & paid for some half inch steel plates, and new mounting bolts in the right places - the installation was prettty straight forward. I was stalled be several days because I didn't have a chain breaker that was big enough! But once Amazon brought my chain breaker, in the rain, I was able to finish the install and see if it works. IT DID! I was actually pleasantly surprised that there were NOT a lot of settings that needed changed or adjusted. Right out of the box - it worked. The instructions were better than most - all the information I have needed was in the manual and in readable English.I usually don't like to leave reviews until I have had an item, and been using it for several weeks, but I will update this review ONLY IF something changes. With the installation I would suggest reading the manual a time or to to get familarized with how everything is supposed to go. Especially understand the instructions for the concrete mounting box. Second, take your time - every install is a bit different and no manual can cover everything. YOUR mounting of the sensors will differ depending on the type of gate you have. You might have to be a bit creative, but it is simply mounting a bracket at the needed location (I used wood blocks on my wire mesh gate to mount the magnets). Second, with the entire install, keep in mind that EVERYTHING that you are adding to your gate needs to be afixed SECURLY and that your gate works freely by hand AND it is plumb and level. If you don't start with a solid gate - the opener is not going to improve any of those issues. If your chain brackets are not secure & in proper alignment, your gate opener is not going to work right. Finally, the chain should be tight. The opener may still work with a saging chain, but it will work much smoother if it is not.So, after I got everything the way it should be - I am very pleased with our tiny baby gate opener! I have only had it working for 2 days, but so far it has opened and closed exactly as it is supposed to. One of my initial concerrns was how noisy it would be. I am happy to report that concern was also completely unwarranted. No loud clunking going on here! So far - I am very pleased. I have not attempted to contact Co-Z for techinal support or any other reason. I just ordered two more remotes - programming instructions are in the manual. The manual says you can program up to FORTY remotes! My only disappointment - I thought I would be able to use the remote buttons inside our vehicle, you cannot. For some reason, I also thought there was an App that one could use, there is not. Ehhh the remotes are cheap, I just bought more remotes!
