First Thousand Words in Hebrew

Fun and easy to use
I really like learning vocabulary using pictures arranged by topic. It helps to have the transliteration of the word there too. Overall this is a very well-designed learning tool. I'm an adult learner and practicing going through vocabulary in this way is helping me speed up. Better than flashcards, which is what I use for Russian vocabulary.

Pretty clever
This is a great book & a really good addition to any Hebrew learning library. The drawings are quite an old-fashioned style but personally I like that. Words are written in Hebrew script with vowels, and also transliterations, with emphasis in bold (really useful). Text is well sized. The book is 65 pages and a large A4 in size. I'd also recommend the David C. Gross Hebrew dictionary, the Lonely Planet Hebrew phrasebook & Hebrew for dummies - each has their own particular usefulness. This book and Hebrew for Dummies, as a grammar/cultural overview, would be a good place to start. While the uTalk online language learning app is really useful.

would make this book more useful.
I have had this book in other languages so knew what to expect. The Hebrew alphabet can be very difficult because so many letters look almost the same and I have seen other books in which the font is so small and unclear that letters are virtually indistinguishable from each other. But in this book, the alphabet page is very clear and understandable. The only drawback in this and the other 'First Thousand Word' books, is that all thousand words are just nouns. Four extra pages, one on verbs, one on pronouns, one on adjective and adverbs and one on prepositions et al. would make this book more useful.

Useful easy way to start to build vocabulary
Useful and fun dictionary with an English-Hebrew glossary st the back. The words include emphasised syllables and because of the pictures it is easy to look something up.

Beautifully illustrated and easy to use!
Gorgeous book!Bought this book for my daughter who’s 9 and loves Judaism. This book was beautifully illustrated and has many different sections in which to learn the Hebrew words for. It’s easy enough for a 9 year old to be left alone with it and still pick up words with ease!I’d recommend to adults and children wanting to learn basic Hewbrew

Very handy starter in Hebrew
It does exactly what you'd expect from a book in this series. It gives you a basic understanding of the alphabet, along with all you need to start learning the names for relatively things, such as a dog, a car wash or a duck. The pages are well thought out, split into categories of similar items (such as items you would see on a farm). Each with a carefully drawn picture, so you will instinctively know what is being expressed.

A lovely book for toddlers to read and recognise words in Hebrew
A lovely book for my son to recognise words and objects in Hebrew. The phonetics helps me be able to read the words as well. There's so much going on on each page which I really like.
