Triple bill featuring the first three 'Omen' films. The saga begins with 'The Omen' (1976), when US Ambassador Robert Thorn (Gregory Peck) is persuaded to substitute a newborn baby, whose mother has died in childbirth, for his own stillborn son. By the age of five, the child, Damien (Harvey Stephens), seems to be exerting a malevolent influence on the Thorn household, suffering a violent fit when he is taken to church and causing his nanny to hang herself. Thorn searches for an answer to his son's behaviour and meets maverick priest Father Brennan (Patrick Troughton), who tries to convince him that Damien is in fact the Antichrist and must be stopped at all costs. The Ambassador at first dismisses this as the crazy rantings of a religious maniac, but subsequent events suggest that maybe the priest had a point. The second film, 'Damien - Omen 2' (1978), picks up events a few years later, with the now-orphaned Damien (Jonathan Scott-Taylor) turning 13 and living with his adoring aunt and uncle. Aunt Marion (Lee Grant) is the first to suspect there is more to the young devil than adolescent angst, leading to her swift dispatch by a killer raven. As for Damien, he is making his mark at military school, and is dismayed to discover his true demonic identity - but not for long. The third film, 'Omen 3 - The Final Conflict' (1981), finds Damien (Sam Neill) all grown up and heading a multinational company. He is about to be appointed US Ambassador to England, a position which will enable him to take over the world and thus fulfil the terrible forecasts of scripture. But there is opposition in the form of a bunch of monks with sacred daggers who will do everything necessary to prevent Satan's enthronement. Review: A classic set of movies, going for an incredible price. - This set for the year these films were originally made is absolutely worth the asking price. In my opinion the original made in 1976 sporting an exceptional cast, particularly Gregory Peck, Lee Remick and Billie Whitelaw is this series finest hour and that alone is worth the asking price. The majority of the special features are on the first disc they include a number of documentaries, interviews, a separate film score track, original theatrical trailer and as one would expect from a set like this, an audio commentary. Jerry Goldsmith's soundtrack for this movie is outstanding and evokes a truly chilling atmosphere. The 5 star rating is essentially given for the original movie. "The Omen", for many psychological thriller, horror officianado's (much to Richard Donner's chagrin as he absolutely doesn't consider it to be part of the horror genre ) was when it came out in 1976 and is still today one of the very best films of its type. I couldn't agree more. Damien Omen 2, it's almost as good in a different way. The casting of William Holden and Lee Grant in this certainly ups the ante for this film, the supporting cast again is excellent and of course Jonathan is particularly good as the teenage Damien. It may not be as good as the original, but it is definitely worth a watch. The Final Conflict is perhaps the weakest of the 3. I never really felt Sam Neil's heart was truly in the performance. The ideas within are fine, but sadly it just doesn't seem up to the same standard or atmosphere of its predecessors. To be fair though there are a couple of genuinely chilling moments. All in all if I didn't have this set, or it went missing, I'd absolutely buy it again Worth the 5 stars for the original alone. Recommended Review: a great trilogy - This is the three film box-set of “The Omen”. The trilogy consists of: ‘The Omen’ (1976), ‘Damien: Omen 2’ (1978), and ‘Omen 3: The Final Conflict’ (1981). I’ve previously owned these on DVD, but recently re-purchased them – on Blu-ray. The HD picture quality is superb. The films are about the birth, life and death of Damien Thorn – the son of Satan. As a baby, this child is adopted by Robert and Katherine Thorn, a wealthy and politically influential family. Upon the death of his adopted parents, Damien is raised by his uncle, a rich businessman. Finally, as an adult, Damien takes over the Thorn business empire – and also enters politics, aspiring for the presidency of the USA. Throughout his life, people become aware that Damien is in fact the Antichrist … some are there to protect and serve him, while others intend to rid the world of his evil. This is a Biblically inspired film franchise, and draws on certain passages from the Book of Revelation – which makes for excellent fiction. By taking this source material seriously, and treating it in a dark and complex manner (rather than tongue-in-cheek), so these films possess a definite gravitas. The first, especially, is a genuine modern horror classic. While neither of the sequels retain the same degree of suspense as the first, both are very good. This set of films come with several bonus features, the most interesting of which is the documentary ‘666: The Omen Revealed’ which explores the making of the franchise. While aspects of these films have dated, they nonetheless represent excellent story-telling and acting. I recommend this set to viewers who enjoy suspense-based horror films.

Something of a cult classic!
There's something that chills me to the core about 'The Omen'. I can't quite put my finger on it. It could be that there is a uniqueness to it, like there was to The Exorcist that just keeps you watching in suspense, wondering what will happen next. There is one scene in the movie that is extremely shocking, even by today's standards. The storyline is very interesting and the acting is great throughout the original movie. The second movie isn't bad, it's on par with the first, albeit a little bit less believable than the first. For the money, I can't grumble. The blu ray quality is good and is a big improvement over the original and any horror movie fan will enjoy the movie for what it was - a big blockbuster in its day and something of a cult classic.

Rise of the anti christ
American ambassador Robert Thorne discovers his son is the son of the devil. The original Omen is a true horror classic. An excellent cast including Gregory Peck giving one of his best performances, Lee Remick, a shockingly young David Warner and Patrick Troughton all on fine form in this chilling masterpiece of horror set in London with lots of religious references directed by Richard Donner directing one of his best films, this horror classic is one of the all time great horror films still chilling and tense 40 years later. Damien: Omen 2 sees Damien now 13 and at military school living with his aunt and uncle and learning for the first time about his destiny. Not as good as the classic original but still a tense horror with a good performance from William Holden as the brother of Gregory Peck's character from the original who starts to slowly realise there is something wrong with his nephew. The final film in the set, Omen 3: The Final Conflict sees a young Sam Neill in one of his early roles as a now fully grown Damien who is one step away from becoming the President Of The United States and could start a nuclear war that will destroy the world. A good performance from Sam Neill in an underrated film that sees him in fear of the second coming of Christ which could stop him once and for all. the sequels aren't as good as the original but both still fun and enjoyable horror films. The set doesn't include the forgettable TV movie Omen 4 or remake.

the Omen trilogy [blu ray] " when the Jews return to Zion..."
Contains spoilers This trilogy of movies dating back to 1976, is a very hit and miss series of movies, and is of course dependent on the viewers own 'favourite' , I feel the omen, and Damien Omen are the best of the trilogy with final conflict being something of a letdown. That been said all three are well linked, with the Gregory peck/Lee remick -ably assisted by David Warner , Leo Mckern and Patrick troughton. The omen still stands as a terrific religious/ alien child thriller (post Rosemary's baby and the Exorcist), with a superb score from jerry goldsmith. Damien omen 2 picks up with Damien as a 13 year old boy unaware of his unusual parentage, through the movie ( and successive grisly deaths) this is revealed to him. William Holden, Lee grant, Leo Mckern support. By the final conflict-Damien has become an adult, played by Sam Neil. Neil doesn't play Damien as sympathetic. Or particularly likeable, and although the 'herod' sequence is often derided as coming across as "funny" rather than frightening, it does follow the internal logic of its characters and motivations. Alas the movie is let down by a weak ending (that contradicts all that has happened before). After saying that the movies are six great hours of entertainment, & as others have pointed out before, the first Studio series of "slasher" movies. Generally very professionally acted and lit with superb scores (all by Goldsmith). Some elements of the each movie are stronger than others-as with any series. And if you can get for under £9 a bargain...

Highly recommended
For anyone who has never watched this film series, I cannot recommend it highly enough. The films are not suitable for children however, so be warned! Essentially the films are about the birth of the Anti-christ on earth, with some fascinating quotes from the bible thrown in for good measure. This aren't religious films however and are more of a thriller / horror genre. I won't say any more about the plot as I wouldn't want to spoil it. This set of films is on Bluray and the quality is excellent. Only the first three films are included, which is a shame. There is a Pentology set available on DVD, but my choice is to have the first three on Bluray and watch the rest on DVD.

Omen 1,2 & 3 on blu-ray
This package contains the three Omen films on blu-ray. The picture is very good (as blu-ray usually is) but I have seen much sharper blu-rays. Bur given the source material this is probably the best we can get. There is also extra material like commentary tracks which I haven't listened to yet. I would say that Omen I is one of the best horror movies ever made (and also far better than the remake from 2006), along with The Exorcist, Suspiria and Alien. These films are from an era when manu interesting films were made. And they share some characteristics. First of all, they dared to make slow-burning movies where action and simple solutions are not allowed to take over. And they contain characters played by good actors. In Omen I, the setting is carefully constructed and we follow the characters in their everyday life. A minimum of special effects and gore is needed to create suspense. The follow-ups, Damien and The Final Conflict, are not half as good as the first. But it's nice to have them in this package and see them anyway, just to see how they tried to develop the concept. It's a shame though, as Sam Neill does a terrific job playing Damien in The Final Conflict.

Una trilogía aceptable teniendo en cuenta que no creo que las secuelas no superen la película de Richard Donner. Aceptable
