Pocket Monsters - Crystal Version [Japan Import]

Pokemon Crystal is a classic Pokemon game that has improved Gold and Silver's already excellent game play and graphics. I decided to pick up the Japanese version to help with my reading and vocabulary during my Japanese studies. The game is all in Hiragana and Katakana, so it was easy to read, but I had to look up some words at times since there's no Kanji. This game also has a few features that were cut out from other regional releases of the game such as the Pokemon Mobile System GB in the unique Pokemon Communication Center in Goldenrod City. (this feature only works if you have a the Mobile GameBoy adapter and a compatible cell phone, however though, the service has been discontinued for over 10 years) Although this feature is now considered inaccessible it's pretty cool to own a piece of online gaming history. The design of the cartridge and motherboard are neat too. The motherboard on the back has Suicune's head piece which is a cool design that I wished other regional versions of Pokemon Crystal had. Overall, a good looking game and a classic Pokemon game that has re-playable value.If you plan to buy a GB/GBC Pokemon game, there's a good chance that the internal battery will need to be replaced. These games rely on a CR 2025 battery to save and to keep a real time clock running. However since these games came out in the late 90s and early 2000s, it is likely that the battery has ran dry by now. Replacing this battery is simple as it requires some quick soldering and a replacement battery with tabs. After the replacement your game should be able to save and run a clock for the next 7-10 years.A big thank you to Stefan and Lena of Konsolenkost USA for helping me out when my order was running late and providing excellent customer service. Likely will need battery replacement but game works great and cartridge is legit

I bought this thinking it will save because it didn't say anything about the save battery being dead.

Great if you're learning to read characters or you want to experience the Japanese version. I just need to say if you plan on gettig this have a special screw driver (one made for Gameboy, n64, nes, snes, etc) and a cr 2025 lithium battery ready, just in case. YOU MUST have a replacement battery in order to save! Just in case the one inside is run dry, at least you have a back up!

I ordered from Net New 5, and it was estimated to arrive on September 24 through October 14. I got it on September 5! Just over a week after I placed the order!The only reason I didn't give this full 5 stars is because I had to replace the internal battery when it came. Hopefully I won't have to do that for a few years.

Ordered the game yesterday and to my suprize arrived thus afternoon at the door very legit and of course all in Japanese the back of the cartridge had a cool suicune/crystal symbol on it. Only downside is save battery was dry so I have to get done before I can truly enjoy it.

Excellent. The game is fantastic. I bought it because I am a long-time Pokemon fan but I am also learning Japanese. So after I learn more of the language I will be able to understand what is being said. Hardcore fans don't need to know Japanese to play this game, however, because they've already played it a thousand times before anyway. Don't let anyone discourage you from buying this game simply because it's not in your own native tongue. My purchase looked brand new upon arrival. A must-have for any Pokemon fan/collector.

ok to start off... i ordered this and got it a week ahead of time... when i received it it had a tore sticker and the internal battery was dead... even though the condition said "very good" i had to spend about 35 dollar totoal to fix this :-( battery was $5.00, the screwdriver was $10.00 and the game was $15.00
