Do these work good in water?

Yes, they are great in water. I have worn them kayaking where they get soaked getting in and out of the kayak, and they are just great...drying out vey quickly.

i always order my keens 1/2 size larger than my normal shoes. are these sized the way most keens are or should i go up another 1/2 size?

I ordered a half size up, 8 1/2 instead of an 8 and they fit great! I could have maybe worn an 8, but I have a wide foot.

Is it made of leather?

The majority is elasticized cording. Very little leather. But very comfortable and lightweight.
