DollaTek BH1750 BH1750FVI Chip Light Intensity Digital Light Sensor Module Light ball for Arduino

I bought this to use as part of a project of an illuminated sign.The sensor itself worked straight away giving reasonable lux measurements, I had no issues using it. I know the device is supported on various platforms and for rapid use in my project, I used an ESP32 dev board using Arduino to program it.It allows me to automatically turn on the sign when it is dark enough, I turn off the sign after a certain time at night since the project is battery powered.Very easy to use and reliable.

Incompatible cable included. Appears this happens a lot. Shame as this company has been good before with everything else I have ordered in the past.

Having set it up with an ESP32 and Home Assistant it worked very intermittently. Having buzzed the cable connections out the white connector always seemed to be problematic. It does plug into the socket but the pins don't always make a circuit with the sockets. I cut the plug off and soldered the wires and now it works perfectly.
