Sophisticated coasters for my MCM-style office.

These are better looking than they are great coasters. Coasters should protect your furniture from those water stains / circular stains that ruin the finished look of your table or shelf. These will do that, but when you get these coasters, you'll notice that they don't have any grip on the bottom.PROS:Because these are polished metal, they have a sleek beauty. Stacked, they look like big gold coins, exuding glamour or abundance. If there are coasters that could be considered sexy, these would fall into that category.Heavier than most coasters, these are durable, unbreakable, and sturdy.Sleek, these are easy to wipe down and don't hold stains, whether it's coffee, wine or water.CONS:There's no rubber feet or grip tape on the bottom, causing 2 concerns: either they might scratch a furniture surface, or that these are so sleek, they might slide on a smooth surface, causing a spilled glass of wine.These are so sleek on the top surface that it feels precarious to put a wine glass on this. I have to be SO CAREFUL when I'm putting the glass down, and I have to also not set the glass halfway on the ridge/edge and halfway on the coaster. When I'm drinking, I get more clumsy and I don't WANT to have to be so careful with every single time I put the glass down.There's no holder, and the bottoms are polished across the bottom, so I can't stack all the coasters in a nice, straight up and down column. Also, with one careless touch, it could easily be sent off the edge of the shelf, resulting in a coaster-slide to the floor or on my toes - they're metal, that could really hurt.I think these are nice looking for a cocktail party host/ess gift, but for practical use, it would be best to stick some of those rubber dots/non-skid plastic circles on the bottom of each one.
