This is a closed loop system and is permanently sealed. You do not need to change the fluid inside.

Has anyone tried this on the intel i7 8700k cpu with a 1151 socket?

Yes its designed to work with 1151 sockets as well as the rest. I've notice many comments on various sights talking about how it doesn't fit well or is difficult to install. It isn't. You just need to make sure you use the correct adapters for the mounting plate and orient them the correct way. All of the instructions are there, and all of the parts to adapt to all of the supported chip types are there as well. Just read it carefully and don't make assumptions. It fits perfectly and makes the proper contact. The one I installed last year on the 8700K has worked great. Its cool and quiet. The one I installed years ago on a Intel 2011 6 core is still running properly. It is a great little cooler.

The fan needs to be mounted where the case fan closest to the CPU is, the one on the back of the case. As long as it is an 115x socket, it should work. The "x" is a wildcard for 0-9.

ONLY if your processor is a socket LGA115x or LGA1366. Otherwise no.
